So have you bothered approaching the copyright holder to see if he will authorise the changes?
I cant believe there isn't a payware NZAA in the works. The main airport in NZ and nothing. Amazing.

May be a bit cheeky, but are you allowed to snap photos airside? Or are you restricted to when you have a flight?

Strange , most off the pop is Auckland .. and most off the serious designers are in the South Island .. wonder if we should get a flip top lid .. Wellington the freeware come together very quick, Auckland not sure why ... people have lost the drive to hook in there ?

As for ORBX they do some little tin pot US airports and even AYPY but not NZAA? Their train set I suppose but why get our hopes up and then scupper them?

Wow by all the post there seems to be a big demand for a high quality NZAA. Might have to put it on priority and get it created. Would try and make it the same quality as my NZNP.

I'm sure there is, esp now I have my trip 7. Hopping between HQ ML, BN and soon to be SY and AA is quite noticeable. Eddy's done a great job but you can only do so much with AFCADs and no custom modeling.

I tried to upload a freeware high quality NZAA, but sadly it got taken off the file library despite copyright issues. This means a lack of a good quality NZAA to really make my home airport so good in FSX. sad.gif

"Despite" does not mean "because of".
Your file was taken down because you uploaded it, in despite of copyright law.

I would definitely pay for a good NZAA rendition as long as it is (i) ORBX NZNI compatible, (ii) Prepar3d2 compatible.

Kind regards, Michael

Thought I would give you guys an update.
I have been doing some research into creating an NZAA and found that building the airport seems really feasible. I came across an amazing resource of reference images which will make developing an NZAA a hell of a lot easier. Recently I began creating the ground polys. I learned a lot from doing NZNP and have found quicker more efficient ways to create them. So efficient that building NZAA's ground polys will take about the same amount of time as when I created NZNP's polys! Not all the lines are done yet in this first screenshot, but I'm getting fairly close. Also I have started on the buildings but I thought I would get the "ground work" out of the way.

Just a small update, not alot to show yet but you get the idea.
Hope you guys like!

Preview of the ground poly textures. I haven't added the dirt/scratches/crack markings to the asphalt yet, that is usually the last thing I do with the ground polys. The paint markings/lines will be a high quality than what I did for NZNP which used a simple repeating paint texture.

Hi there Che, If it`s as good as your NZNP it will be a winner. Looking forward to progress. regards Bob K

Thanks guys! I'll post more screens soon. I'm in the that phase where I've done a lot of work but the work isn't in a state yet to take pretty screenshots to show. Any developer knows what I'm talking about lol.

I'd never thought I'd say this but.....Apple Maps is your friend! They have a 3d model you can zoom around the airport. (you may already know this)

You can't read heights off it but it may help.

Oh.... can't wait, thanks for putting the time in!!! smile.gif

One off the best measuring sticks is using the FSX aircraft and a bit off eyeball engineering with the base photo to get the correct scales, one of the biggest things here and now with people with all these wonderful cameras is to photo as much as possible close ups and from a distance so you don't distort the angles , one thing I think Che would really appreciate! smile.gif

That's for sure, then the next step is you get some bits looking good enough for a screenshot from certain angles, then when you come to release the 'finished' product you realise that you didn't texture the back of the objects you built first for these screenshots....

That's about where I am with NZWN at the moment.
