Even see this sort off thing when for some reason the pilot aborts a landing Rwy 29/11 at Christchurch, seen happen many times without any traffic ... some off the funny comments you hear ... Some people Really need to get a Grip!

The best way way we can deal with these people is to sneak into their house when they are out, remove all the warning labels from everything and Let Darwin sort the problem

Strangely just after this was posted .. being a plane spotter a JETSTAR 320 aborted a Rwy29 landing and did an aggressive turn then shot north to land on the Rwy20 ... so its nothing special .. had I been on the flight I would have enjoyed the Tiki tour

I had something very similar happen at Auckland a few years ago, coming in to land in a heavy storm. As a passenger it didn't phase me at all, in fact once the wheels were finally on the ground we all gave the flight crew a round of applause!

we did the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago, a 767 was cleared to line up as we were on short finals and we went round into the circuit for 23l
its a perfectly normal procedure and one we practice for. the herald story is absolutely farcical like most things that come from that publication, if anybody can write a crappy article quoting "a witness" then I might have
to give up flying and become a journalist happy days

I saw this and started writing to the journo telling her all that has been stated above and more but then thought why am I wasting my time.
There is not much worse than a non aviation journo trying to report on aviation matters. This one should have stuck to dress making patterns or reviewing her favorite cafe.
Utter garbage that has no place in a newspaper. It is merely an attempt to maintain the impetus with the current beat up on Air NZ.

And funny some real items don't even make it ... newspaper wars , as one person working phones at the council said to me ... "Its all the big green dollar" ... this just to get my front verge mowed, aircraft going around is a regular thing, strange things going around - lawn mower man drove past my place to the corner for his Hamburger I guess and course drove back .. he could have mowed the piece of council lawn - the story never reached the newspapers BUGGER! .

Most of this garbage is from two classes of sources:

1. The common person:
People that are utterly convinced that "the government" or some big name corporation is out to get them personally, and who will see what they want to see in order to make an event align with their world view. Some of these people are simply seeking attention, some are mentally disturbed, and a select few are just plain stupid.

2. Larger news/entertainment corporations:
Journalists for larger entities, such as national newspapers, or national television services are for the most part writing to attract viewers, not necessarily for accuracy. Occasionally you'll see a journalist at a big name that still tries to be cautious with their reporting, but most of them remain with the smaller news outlets and are working their way up to the majors.

This opinion is based on my experience interacting with people and entities in both points above.

I do NZAA Noise complaints at work and I deal with one person in this class at least 15 times a day, and that's just me, not including everyone else that gets him as well. literally EVERY SINGLE TIME a plane goes in or out over his house...

At Air NZ we use to get get multiple calls from One Maxine Harris and her neighbour who lived up on the hill behind the Air NZ hangar at NZWN. Even a stage 3 hush kitted aircraft didn't satisfy her. Eventually she moved and all was quiet again.

It's like all the morons here in Auckland that bought a house by the Speedway then b.... about the noise coming from it, tho they weren't complaining when the Eagles and so forth played their concerts there. So strange that....
