NEW ZEALAND FLIGHT SIM FORUM MULTIPLAYER GROUP FLIGHT: PART DEUX

Date:
Saturday
September 27, 2014

Time:
1400 NZST

Other timezones:
Friday, September 26th, 2014 @ 2200 EDT
Saturday, September 27th, 2014 @ 0200 GMT

Connection/Server:
Connecting via FSHost if there will be FS2004 or P3D participants. If not, we are connecting to Ian (if he's willing and able) directly in FSX.
Server is TBD.
Drawbacks include increased "choppiness" of aircraft depictions via FSHost thus permitting formation flight, along with the need to figure out how to use the software.
Benefits include a reduced burden on Ian, as well as the ability for users using other simulators to join.

Route:
Hokitika (NZHK) - Mount Cook (NZMC) - Timaru (NZTU)

Aircraft:
Anything that can handle the mountains and get into and out of Mount Cook safely.
Up for debate, but let's see if there's something else besides the DC-3, just to avoid using the same thing twice.

Scenery:
Robin Corn's NZHK and NZTU work, as well as Lawrie Roache's NZMC....all for FSX.
Not sure what the state of affairs is for FS2004.

Weather:
TBD....I would prefer real weather, but this can be discussed.

Teamspeak:
If you are participating in the flight, we very strongly advise that you use Teamspeak, as I do not believe we will be using chat with FSHost (at least I won't so I can fly in fullscreen mode). A friendly group participants, and no-one cares about how you sound, your accent, or anything else. We had three nationalities present last time with no issues.

Excellent, I can get a 737 in there no sweat, might try a 767 and see how that squeaks in...

That would be a great watch... a 767 into HK MC and TU! Talk about max thrust / max braking! Hope someone can get that on camers...

One primary thing and makes it enjoyable for all involved is simply all having the same aircraft or least one that would be registered with other types and another great thing people installing paints.

The DC-3 was great last time, we will see what we come up with, 767s from Hoki to Timmy via Mount Cook UMM , we have to be practical.

MPs are fine as long as we can find the appropriate type, we want to encourage peoples , I look at the route and parking and the realistic but I also want a pretty looking aircraft whilst doing Screens , last time the default DC-3 with the Manfred J mod really filled the gap.

Lets bring it back to a practical discussion on the aircraft involved for this route.
If it comes down to it, we'll just use DC-3s again, but if anyone has other reasonable suggestions, let us know.

We still have a lot of time, Keep the DC-3 , we do have a lot off Milton Shupe aircraft types that would really fit the category, transports , mil and private would really suit the day course another I would really want to see back and something to dedicate would be Tim 'Piglet' Conrad , between the teams and the characters designers we have many aircraft ideally suited and all freeware!

I think it would be great to peoples who got the gist of the August ride , driving over-sized aircraft on the intended route would be a little silly, sensible peoples would look a the superb freeware choices, some off these in the real world can really move, the Howard 500 .. example - Maybe the Rick Piper Stable .. cool.gif 748/Andover

+1 from me for the Rick Piper 748. Real world connection with the area, and a Mt Cook livery to boot. Have actually flown it (virtually) through this very area a few times myself...

Exactly the Thumbs Ups we need Dean smile.gif , I no Alister McLeod very well, a regular Wigram tour guide and him and his Wife brought the first 748 into New Zealand back in 1968 , great thing Al set up a system in a retirement home displaying the model .. ripping through 2004 Peter Lohr scenery... be a great return.
