That is probably it in a nutshell. Track IR is good for viewing outside but not really that flash inside...too much craning of the neck.

I disagree, cr@p for outside, good for the inside. You do build up the neck reflexes pretty quick though I agree smile.gif but a lot of that can be dialled out by configuring the acceleration and sensitivity in the TrackIR settings, takes some fiddling and its personal preference but I have mine to the point now where its minimal movement but maximal degree of rotation so you can still actually see the screen.

May as well butt in with my perspective. I use track IR all the time but it's a bit like my progressive glasses, takes a while to get used to it but then you wouldn't be without them. A little disclaimer though - I don't fly the big tube liners where you need to access the roof panels from time to time; not sure how well it would work with that requirement, a bit annoying I suspect.

I remember my first flight after getting used to them coming in to land at NZNS in the A2A spit tfire and the freedom of being able to glance back to my rear left to check where the runway was as I was turning into base leg. Simply brilliant.

But as some people never get used to progressive glasses I'm guessing that some won't be able to get used to Track IR, but if you can it certainly enhances the realism --- BUT it drives anyone watching your flying over your shoulder completely nuts! Still that's a small price to pay in my opinion!

I've got a Track IR4 that now lives in it's box.
Gave it a good try on several occasions.
One problem was someone moving behind you interfering with it.
Tends to lock you to one position too, which isn't good for my old neck.

Hey Rocky. Just out of interest, did you have the TrackIR with the reflective clip, or the one with the active LED thing that goes on your headset?
My sim is in our office at home and dont usually have anyone walking behind me which may be why I've never notice the issue you mention.

Also keen to pick up a second hand Track IR if anyone is flogging one off. Gave one a go in aus recently and reckon it would suit my style of simming!
