My understanding is that it's a licensing issue as Lockheed Martin own P3D and the PMDG 737/777 are officially licensed Boeing products. The two corporations don't seem to like each other very much...

I can't justify spending $100 on an addon for P3D if the publisher won't even support it so looks like I might have to give the iFly a go

Won't stop people going out and making it work.

I think you will enjoy countless hours with it.

I can't use half my addons in P3D so I have some in P3D and can usually be found flying an A320 around the UK in that and do the rest in FSX

It is worth taking note of the developers that are quick to bring out a fix to a P3D update and support them.

Well P3D is effectively FSX in 64bit and DX11, most FSX Native addons will run in it so all they need to do in most cases is update the installers. It's not like asking them to overhaul an entire product.

The issue is with licensing rather than compatibility. If you're using the likes of PMDG stuff in P3D it's almost piracy as when you buy their products you agree to their EULA which most likely forbids the customer from using it in P3D.

But then again P3D says you can't use it for entertainment purposes... If anyone asks I'm studying. ninja.gif

I'm pretty sure P3D's is a 32 bit app. I think there are some other development challenges beyond simple installation.

Yes in some case it is not as simple just changing the installers. If that were the case the Estonia migration tool would work for everything. I'm not sure what the major issue is but the DX11 may prove challenging. The lighting in P3D is a vast improvement over anything else.
Also any scenery with FS9 objects in it wont show and needs reworking.

As I've been sticking strictly to P3D-compatible aircraft, my list is currently:

Boeing T-45C Goshawk - Dino Cattaneo - freeware
Bronco X - Aerosoft - payware
De Havilland DH.89A Dragon Rapide - Dave Garwood - freeware
De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk - Just Flight - payware
Grumman F-14D Tomcat - Dino Cattaneo - freeware
Lockheed Hudson, Super Electra and Lodestar - FSAddon - payware
Lockheed S-3B Viking - Dino Cattaneo - freeware
Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II - Dino Cattaneo - freeware

As P3D 2.3 seems to be the game-changing release, I think I may go further and attempt a full migration this time.

Exactly which is Why I'm only flying an Airbus around the UK, it's the only plane and scenery packages in my library that I have installers for that work. Aerosoft Airbus X and ORBX England and Scotland. (For some reason my NZ installers are bungholed). My Carenado 182 ends up with missing panels for some obscure reason.

Only trouble is they plan to have 2.4 out by the end of the year. Hopefully it is a "tick" rather than a "tock' upgrade. I have a feeling the tock will be 64 bit and that will mean more $$$$
2.4 SLI perhaps if Nvidia play ball?

I'm looking at the Majestic Q400 next.

Got the Q400 the other day and it's great! If you're thinking about getting it sooner rather than later you can save $20 bucks here:

Wish you hadn't posted that Nick. Another $58 off to support the FS industry. It is starting to make my RC flying seem cheap.

Yeah, I'm not even looking, but it is on my list (you know the list, the one I'll bring out when I win lotto... )

This week's 'hidden gem' of Prepar3D default aircraft is the Alabeo Extra 300. This is built to fly, that's for sure -- if only because I haven't figured out how to land it yet. It seems the landing distance I need is always equal to 1.2 x the available runway length...

Well the first download failed. .5 of a gig off the cap. It said it was missing a file when I tried to run the installer.
Would this patch already be included in the new downloads? How would one tell? I don't even know what the MJ84 Control panel is...but I guess I will be finding out soon.

Bugger, that's always a pain. My one came as v1.010 but there is a small 1.011 update. The control panel comes with the install, you set units, pax, cargo and fuel then send the info to the plane....yes, you'll find out smile.gif

Yes, I think SLI figures in the plans for 2.4 as it was mentioned right at the end of the last beta by one of their testers. As 2.3 was a performance update, I'd anticipate some other new features in 2.4 as well. Personally, I doubt we'll se 64-bit any time soon although it is in their long term plans. Maybe in 3.0 whenever that comes?
