They really did not last that long, the Dash is the better proposition.

It's really apples vs. oranges though. Plus they're not getting rid of all of them.. just thinning out some training frames now that they have the sim as I understand. Linstrim could clear that up though?

Considering the routes that Eagle fly them on they are quite high time airframes in terms of cycles.

EAL has 36300. (http://moneyaviation.co.za/home/?view=d ... 20Airliner ). If you do the maths it equals something like 8 sectors a day without taking into account maintenance weather etc, and each cycle being 0.6hrs long.

Maintenance , the engineering side .. the amount of cycles, the tyre changes alone would be extra regular, have larger aircraft with near same performance with the bigger load makes sense.

That would be equal to about 174,240 flights between Auckland and Tauranga!
