Guess this time off the year we have the luxury of the USAF, this morning a LC-130 head out over my place, the tours we get out at the airport.

I do wonder why with a little extra effort they don't paint out the rudders ? sorta like a half ass job !

It's a balance issue I believe, as an imbalance could cause the rudder to have flutter and potentially rip itself off

That one out off the books, seems a bit strange, that issue for example is the A-4 Skyhawk, they removed the skin leaving the open ribs of rudder to stop the flutter - Ed Heinemann trick , .... the not painting ? ... they do the same on the 747s, what about clean tailed aircraft, there is a few off them, seems a bit of strange balance issue ?
