Not an unusual occurrence there Foz, and looking like a large loss of life. If you fly over Farewell Spit you'll see it forms one of natures traps.

Many cases it happens in a couple of places around New Zealand each year, ... other weird sea creatures, a couple years back a large squid washed on the beach 3 or 4 meters long to a dead sperm whale that appeared to have been attacked by an octopus ... one reason i'm not a fish.

Poor whales! Here they are, all trying to return to their ancestral home, and the environmentalists keep pushing them back into the sea :(

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Ta for the latest heads-up, Bazza!.... :D ...!

Its such a shame to see these magnificent creatures suffering, and a big cheer for all those involved in trying to save them!

Not a sight to be seen around my shores!

At least, many of them were saved.... ...!

Paul..... B-) ...!
