Seems that way Ian ...big gray jets in big gray fluffy things B-)

Interesting bird this one .... crashed back in the 60's , never found the crew.

Funny really (the interception) and the reactions from both sides ..... "we saw you" .... "no you didnt" ... "yes we did .. it was you" .... " well .... we dont want to play anymore" ..... "oh come on , its fun ..... promise we will count to ten next time before we launch "

Bloody silly , when you think the U.S NEEDS Russia to get crew and equipment to the space station ... and back . I wouldn't be teaseing them .... regardless of the odd Bear intrusion .
They more than likely get back and home and call each other "damn you were fast today" .... "Da .... but you were late "
Let the sabres rattle
Lets not drag this into a pointless political/defence debate(before it starts) ...we all know , as do the controllers of these people , that if all hell broke loose , the only survivors are ... cockroaches :ph43r:

:o cockroaches! maybe , their, the buggers we should be watching ........... Whatever ... get over yourself guys(U.S / Ru) for Gods sake... lifes too short <_<

It's a pretty standard thing - send in a clever plane to 'accidentally' intrude, and take note of the response time, all the comms and where they came from, and so on.

Be interesting to see or hear if it go's any further but I'm guessing blowing out off proportion ... again, If it was North Korea , now that would be more news worthy and maybe a sign to start thinking the possible.

Nice pictures.

About the interceptions...Well, These days, They didn't intrude over the sovereign air space, at least the bear here in Europe. In Japan I remember that sometimes they intrude. But USAF need a strong VVS and viceversa...ouch! well, really Lockheed, Northrop and Boeing need a strong VVS.

Take the 270 radial from the nearest VOR...or as we used to say in pre-radio days - "Go West, young man..."
