Portugal... Faro (LPFR) - Lisbon Portela Airport (LPPT)

Another short flight after a working day, used to relax. The aircraft is the bigger Sister of the SAAB 340, seen here. It is in the same package from Virtualcol. Okay, they are not the finest aircraft, but I have no idea about a better one.

Faro, the capital of the Algarve province of Portugal is a beautiful place to go and the entrance to beaches, beaches, beaches... al the way westward to Sagres Point, the most western point of european Mainland. One of the Gouvernors of the Algarve was Infante Dom Henrique de Avis, Duke of Viseu (4 March 1394 – 13 November 1460), better known as Henry the Navigator (Portuguese: Henrique, o Navegador) At Sagres Point was his school of Navigators (Pilots they tell them in that time) the man hwo sailed southward around Cape Boujador and then Africa... a time in wich Portugal was a big catholic Colonial Power... for around 80 years.

Here we can see our aircraft, the SAAB 2000 is parking at the airport of Faro. This aircraft is from Portugalia, meanwhile a Part of TAP Air Portugal... In the background we see an MD 80 from Scandinavian Air System (SAS), and you know, that I have not updated my traffic, because the SAS has now longer aircraft of this type.



We are underway to the runway and you see the airport of Faro is not very big, but full of aircraft.

Climbing to only 14.000 ft. because it is not far to Lisbon



New course set to North... bringing us from the Algarce to the atlantic coast of Portugal.



Portugal has the problem, that the coastal Region has a lot of inhabitants, but behind the coast in the mainland a lot of farmes are given up in these days.



Portugal is a beautiful green land... but not in summer.



We reach Setubal. Setubal? Yes, it was at times a rich region because a lot of european shipping from the baltic and the german coast in the 14. to 17. century came to this point, for shipping salt... it was as good as gold in these times.

The SAAB 2000 is not a slow aircraft... i like her, because she is an elegant little airliner and you have more room as in an DASH 8.



After a little ride of 30 minutes we reach Lisbon Portela airport.



Portela, one of the airports in Europe, that need a replacement, because it is not big enough and there is no space for enhance the place.



We are independent from airport structures in therms of gangways.

Andreas , I was the bash off all jokes five six years back, loved riding on the S340 and always scored the single rear seat on the REX aircraft around Australia .. people knocked me it ... aircraft suited me , loved em and your screens to the updated version.

Yes Ian, the SAAB 2000 is the bigger aircraft from SAAB and i like this thing, but it was not a commercial Runner... so that SAAB stopped all activities in civilian aircraft. Only 63 aircraft are build, and 36 of them are underway with passengers. The rest are meanwhile AEW-Aircraft, modified from to SAAB returned civilian aircraft.

The SAAB 340, I know what you mean, Have sitting in the same seat on a flight from Assuan to Abu Simbel, and return on my voyage across Egypt.

Both airports are from, Aerosoft, the one of Faro is older, Lisbon is the new Version 2 of Portela. And I have the "Megascenery Earth Portugal" in use... Well.. she is not "mega", but for the price Only one season, with out autogen and with out night-textures.

Awesome, thanks. Yeah Mega is just photoreal ground, if they did a little more with it like autogenning it would be awesome scenery, Have a look on Avsim or Flightsim, some people have done autogen for the mega sceneries
