Now this one has has really taken its time, I think its was the change to colour and having a very detailed aircraft and ship, very similar a previous B/W drawing, the Seasprite and Canterbury, Don's VQ-1 heading home leaving DGL 21 USS Robison on patrol 1966. B-)

Course scratch-building models dose come in handy, this one has really come up well. I love these warships weapons all over the place B-)

Thanks Dan,
This one took a very long time , maybe Dem 2014 , the going colour was with this detail , combination of standard HB pencil to water-colour paint then re-draw , same as the your Thunderbolt , once all dried scanned onto the PC edited , printed again, and redrawn , one lesson I have learned is not use deskjet printer on the second to last edit , fine for B/W but colour looses it , so once happy with the details I get it laser printed then the final edit.

Drawing a ship is like scratch model build without plans .. all eyeball material
Image
With a model it errors , I not touched this sort of thing for long were as with drawing easier to edit and change to suit and make it look the part.

Now following my old grass roots or least a return to only Pencil - whoops I lie my ole grass roots was ball point pen , THE HUSTLER . I was or had intended to completely wrap it up with background but stopped here, in the future I could return and try other builds ... one thing with a B-58, they are a real pin prick speedy machine and with the records to prove it.

I am the very lucky person that this painting was done for. Let me tell you, the screenshots do not do it justice! It is sensational to say the least! If you look closely you can even see the shadow under the ladders, such attention to detail is such a gift. I can not thank Ian enough for doing this painting. He also sent along a copy of the Connie from the nosewheel perspective. Another great picture. Just received these so now have to find a proper frame shop to do them the justice they deserve. Thank you again Ian, been a long time since the old SCFA days. Don

Spent a few hours with Ian at Wigram this morning .... he was out there pushing his Artwork , and photographing the Devon.
He did a grand job on both accounts , but i was a little bit annoyed by the retail side of the museum , with regard to his pictures ..... correct me if i got the wrong end of the stick , but it seemed they wanted 100% profit.
In other words , just give us the work ..... I stood back .... nothing to do with me as i was there for other reasons , but also to keep an eye on the skinny guy, But .... how rude .

Ian .... after seeing you in action , i would have bought the whole collection . Dont get to down about it .... i really think you made an impression out there today , but maybe not where you planned to, and that , may be the key.
The only down side to the morning , was , when we got back to the studio ..... i (silly me) asked about a coffee .... to which" Iancent VanWarren" responded ...... just go ... or , I'll cut your bloody ear off :P
Artists ..... temperamental buggers :)

It was a great morning Marty, back with all the lads putting aircraft together , I was invited see about selling my work BOY - It was a bit rude 100% actually - that was unbelievable. Met one of the tour guides tho, Earl was a navigator on the US Navys VX-6 Lockheed Constellation 'Phoenix' , I mentioned I have VX-6 'Pegasus' in the works and he was very interested , heading to the States so he said that give me time to get it completed.
Yip that morning was a Cut above the rest - did you ear me :D

Nick come in asking for a painting, this is the background , the sort off fishing boat he fly's from, I'm doing the background
here and need a change in water colour , saying that it is this pencil and water colour painted with water base colour pencil
, once happy I'll then mask it then paint in Nicks aka 'choppernut' flying his 500C which he did for his first 9 month tour of
duty so speak , great thing I have a photo off the very machine Nick fly's So the contrast is going to look brilliant .

Whoah, I wasn't expecting that! Amazing start. The only thing is the 'coppa' (crows nest) on the boat that I was flying on was yellow. The photo I gave you was from the boat I am on now with the Cabri. The boats follow a common design so quite often it's only the name on the side and the colours that are different. No need to change anything else.

Very pleased you are happy with the beginning , , I was going come from another direction but I think once I put the 500 in and really wind up the texture and detail hopeful it will be Deja Vu .
