Video Card Replacement

Postby Redda03 » Mon Apr 27, 2015 2:34 pm

My Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 "crashed" this week and after a thorough inspection by a technician I have been advised that I will need to reinstall a new Card posting.php?mode=post&f=5#.

The Technician suggested that I should consider installing a GeForce GTX 860 PCI-E 16 2GB Memory.

Comments would be appreciated!!!???

Cheers,

Bob R

Bob , I went thru graphic cards a couple off years back (5/6maybe) .. Going from a GTX295 (bloody $1400 plus) which simply died to its replacement a GXT480 ($850 costing) which showed or to me seemed lessor at its replacement cost and fortunately that also did a 'Funky Chicken' , now in my current FS PC I have a GTX750TI (then costing around $400) and the results are very pleasing , I am very sure the GTX860 would be Ideal and suit your very fine. B-)

Arr Tech-co-nology and time in such a short time .

Crikey .... A one small step from graphics card to another larger Graphics card .... now were did I hear that before ... they where talking about the moon .

I think the only thing you have to worry about is the size (dimensions) and if it has the slots/pins and MOBO (motherboard) that will suit it .

Ian,

You will no doubt be pleased to hear that I have decided (after a very long consultation with my Techo in Palmerston Nth today) to install a GTX750TI in Palmy tomorrow. He will also configure an additional Solid State Hard Drive that should speed up the system. FYI the GTX 960 could not be retrofitted to by MOBO (Build in 2008 at the same Computer Store)....he described the 750TI as "upmarket GTX285 performer)", so I am looking forward to getting FS up and running again this weekend. posting.php?mode=reply&f=5&t=24635&sid=c40715ecedd22d3659baebfc612c1e75#

Will keep you informed.

Cheers,

I run the EVGA GTX750, the 7X series is a great series of cards. Not too pricey, but still great performance and if its an EVGA great cooling. I think you'll be happy with it (Esp if you have a 1080hd monitor/tv hooked up)

Hi Ian
No luck with bits and pieces still looking but not looking good at this stage
Currently working on the collective setup and installing that under the seat of the cockpit of the 300. Will be using pillow blocks to attach the collective, will post some pics soon
