I'm sure some of you have seen it already but a look at the NZ Civil Aircraft blog shows what appears to be Bell 206 fuselages in the Heathcote Valley tip. If somebody want's to rescue them from being turned into drink cans, better get down there.

I can't hear any pitter pattering feet , ... Strange they ended up there , tho in saying that , my Uncle , known as the "Birdman of Bexley" had a house on the swamp course in there was a regular dumping ground .. I was only 12/13 at the time - what did I find - an old DH Vampire, tried to get it home but my father thought it was a silly idea ..... fortunate someone with the same vision found it and is in the Ferrymead Museum in Heathcote .

As for the "Birdman of Bexley" Uncle Hubert , he died in 1984 , he was given that name because he had an bird Avery , his spare rooms in the house where hotel rooms for the sick and injured birds , everyone in the region knew exactly were to come or go to if found an injured feathered friend .

Now for those 206 hulls .. better get there quick , bloody scrap metal man really is only around the corner :o

I'd think we'd all be surprised about what get pushed into tips. I guess when something like that reaches the end of its life, the scrap value is higher than the helicopter value. Still a bit of a shame though. If I was in CHC, I'd probably go and rescue one.

If you could organise someone to recover one, i have shed storage space to keep it until you can collect, but i am an hour away from heathcote...

:) John of the Kiwis, very sure Nick is not in the need for an ole hull , but maybe there is another out there who at the moment is doing a real "itchy and scratchy" show .. there we go , 'John of the Kiwis' has offered a short time spot .. Now I wonder if there are any MD500 parts in the tip.

One looks like it might have just had the nose cut off but the fuselage would still provide a good starting point for someone
