Been a while...

Postby toprob » Fri May 15, 2015 9:54 pm

I first did a Turangi scenery back in 2003, and I had forgotten all about it until now. Here I am back there with the Subscription, now in Prepar3D. I don't think I'll ever make it there in real life, but you never know.

I've put some FSX screenshots around Lake Taupo on the Subscription site, here's the link.

This area is not well-serviced with aerial images, with just a single 50 cm resolution, and the quality/colour varies a lot. Issue 9 Taupo wil be 1.2 m/px, which is the 'standard' FSX/Prepar3D resolution, although Turangi will be 50 cm/px in Issue 9, and Taupo City/Airport will be 50cm eventually.

Good question, I just don't have an answer at the moment:)

I have Taupo X on my 'main' install, which is Vector Land Class + Prepar3D, along with all the custom airports I can find. I don't have it on my FSX install, which I use just for testing Orbx compatibility, and therefore lacks a lot of airports.

At the moment my P3D license has expired once again, so I'm doing without it until I can afford to renew it! Hence the FSX screenshots, since this is my only working sim at the moment... This happens about every second month, and is one of the reasons why I need to quit full-time scenery -- there isn't much money in it. I hope to renew the license this week, so I'll take a look at Taupo X.

I guess one reason I have not brought the P3D yet ... maybe the head to head cockpit idea is maybe the next avenue or your branch out into painting scenery, so strange as a money maker I see many works worth into the thousands at what is considered a standard price ... 3000 to 4000 thousand for a landscape painting, It just to get those brush's working or create something totally different.

Just bear in mind that you'd normally just make a single payment for P3D -- US$59.95 for Academic, US$199.00 for Professional -- I just choose to use the Developer version, even though I don't use any of the P3D tools yet.
