Car Thoughts ....

Postby Splitpin » Sun May 24, 2015 8:19 pm

Im keen to hear any input on the following ..... if you want to .
Soon , I'll be the market for a new car ... not another BMW ^_^ and through a good local dealer I've narrowed it down to these (below) but i cant figure the pricing ...seems to be age driven.
Anyway they are:

08 Honda Inspire , 69,000 km $15000 cash
07 Nissan Fuga 450GT (V8) 92,000 km , $16k cash ($1000 more than we allowed) ..... but can negotiate.
04 Honda Inspire , 33,000km , $10,000
and .... an 06 Inspire 111,000 km , $10,000

Do you go for the newest ? lowest k's ? or cheapest?
I myself ... think K's , but then i think ..... what sort of k's were they ?
Any input would be appreciated ..... oh , and then there was the 07 Honda legend ... full leather ...... and so it goes on <_<

I no nothing about cars .... Rick just recent brought a new vehicle, always had a van man for his work tools but did a total change and brought himself a truck, that maybe also another option, a four seat with a tray with a canopy.

Marty - Honda make very good engines - in a used car purchase, likely maintenance parts, availability and cost are important. Not much wrong with Nissan engines either - Holden used one in a Commodore - but I know a bloke who bought a Nissan sports model, only to find the brake discs were clapped out and replacing them would mean buying new wheels as well, because none of the other 7 types would fit the wheels on his machine and the type he needed was no longer available.
You are right about age affecting price - if they think you are a silly old duffer, they will add $5k or so to the price, just to see if they can get away with it.
Mind how you go, mate.

Marty, I've had a few British Motor cars in the past...

..they have all rotted away in short time.

But my ever-lasting life has been spent, (and still does), in riding all my various motor cycles, every day since obtaining my Bike licence in 1950!

I get wet and cold, but with cheap Insurance, Tax, no parking fees, no body rot, etc, I can put up with that!

My 1982 Austin Allegro 1.5 HL 40,000 miles from new, has been sat in my garage, collecting dust, since 1990, never to be driven again!

Far too much traffic, and traffic jams now!

No problemo on two-wheels.... :D ...!

(...just wet and cold).... ;) ...!

Paul...Meep..meep.... B-) ...!

When I quit my job and started the business, I sold my old gas-guzzler -- which I loved -- and bought the lowest-mileage 1300 I could afford. But now I'm a bit older, even though I'm still on a budget, I'd rather go for comfort -- you deserve a bit of comfort in your old age. By 'you', I mean me, but you are getting there, Marty...

 Ive got 2 92 rollas ... maybe something could be done .
But really , i have to do something .... i live on a car farm . 2 toyotas , the mondeo , and the german money pit .
Plan is to flick the mondeo to my brother (free.. will be the third car I've given the guy <_< ) the BMW and 2 toyo's should be worth 6k between them ..... convert that(plus $1000) into something nice for my flatmate / partner (another story for later) she has been a rock .... and i didn't even notice , until a few months ago.... how bad is that ...
And the money put aside for new wheels will be spent .... on a final vote from you lot , I'll narrow it down (to at least 3) ... you vote , I'll abide by the outcome  because i cant pick one .

My trusty 1996 Hilux ute. A tad over 315,000kms on the clock, but still bombproof, still going strong, although it is starting to feel its age a bit :)

Don't know why this will not show properly - the code is the same as I use for the comp and elsewhere :( If you click on it, it will come up as 1280 wide.
Now it doesn't want to do even that
 The original is 1280 wide, so I tell PostImage not to resize, so it busts it down to a thumbnail, and does not offer me the usual Direct Link, just Link.
So I upload again and tell it to resize to1280 wide. If I then expand the thing and copy/paste address in the image info, it does what it should have done an hour ago!!!

As I got older I was finding all those cars harder to get in & out of.
They are too low for old farts. The Honda my daughter had was the worst.
So I bought a little Rav4. A little heigher & a nice driving position.
Only problem is I don't use it enough now.
Wife has a new SUV, easier to let her drive.
So there is a 98 Rav4 done 95k sleeping in my garage if youre interested.
