Id be the youngest posting on Marty's look were I am today, best thing is getting wisdom from you slightly older chaps and go from there ... When I hit 57 .. I'm going to remind Marty about this and I am very sure both you Paul and Mike are really going to rub it in , just to seriously make sure off IT !

Yeah, I picked up a bottle of wine today in Lyttelton, to celebrate -- about half-gone (it, not me). Meant to wait until I knew the outcome, but what the hell...
I have the utmost faith!

 Thanks guys ..... it went well , but hard to tell what they thought.
As far as what they want , and what i can do .... all the boxes are ticked. I came away feeling pretty good about it , great people , very professional operation.
Just have to wait it out for a few days now.

Good onya Marty -
It is very unusual to be offered a position straight from the interview, unless of course you are the only applicant.
As Joyce Grenfell said in so many HM War Office films - "Come on girls, expect the worst, hope for the best". Not a bad philosophy - softens the blow if you miss out, and creates the pleasure of an unexpected win.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Actually had a call today from the HR dept of a place I applied to. It was the most awkward, frustrating conversion I've ever had, kind of like two different alien races trying to communicate. I know that I have to play their game, and I do try, but one of the few good things about getting older is that you don't normally need to play those games which are expected, to get anywhere when you are younger.

In the end we agreed that I should 'voluntarily withdraw my application.' Which really meant I was far too annoying. So I came away with none of my questions answered, and probably wrecked my chances of ever getting a job there....

Were is that bloody bottle off wine now you really need it , I was lucky to run into a HR person at General Cable , rather him telling me what they wanted, I struck first and I told him what I could give and told I machined parts dies and other bits and pieces. There was no mention off the job I was to do he said Ok thanks, later that afternoon a phone call, I was in on the next Monday twlight 3.00pm to 1.00am shift .

NOW Every time I'm required to go to an appointment I've learned to take my art portfolio - show what I'm doing at home .... it was WINZ people that HALF would not really know what they are talking about, the first women said and told me all these stupid Ideas , don't draw to many its time wasting .... after required to go back in I had produced a lot more and in different formats and Ideas , this time I was resigned a case manager and she was exactly the opposite .

I strutted in the WINZ office with that attitude and showed I was looking at all avenues and producing as well ...... like with you today , you run into the wrong person , one thought that come to mind , the institution did not know what one hand was doing and what the other was open with creative ideas . If you don't mind me asking Rob , what was the job ?
