A FREE upload and storage site for our videos?

Postby Fozzer » Wed Jul 22, 2015 8:42 pm

...other than "You Tube"...

To upload and store our Videos for private publication for friends and family via a link!

Uploading to You Tube takes FOREVER on my ADSL Broadband (@ 0.6 Mb/s), and if I close the Browser before its finished uploading, everything is lost!

At the moment I am using the free version of "Dropbox" for my Videos, (which uploads in the background), but I am limited to 2GB of video file(s) storage in total, so to make room for another new file I have to delete the existing one....(resulting in a dead link!).

https://www.dropbox.com/en/

Any suggestions for a FREE site with fast upload and download (streaming) speeds, and plenty of file space?

...(FREE is always nice)... :wink2: ...!

You Tube can be quite complicated, with lots of restrictions in usage.

Any ideas, Chums?

Paul.....have camera...will travel... :D ...!

I'm very limited in video or not composed anything to such a degree .. but free up load to Utube will be interesting after the recent plan change here.

The main problem is the very limited ADSL upload speed. It is never going to be any quicker. I find Youtube pretty much the same as uploading anything else -- it takes about 4 hours to upload a subscription issue, and a small Youtube video can take an hour or more. The secret is to be patient. I generally try and start up a major upload before I go shopping, and this kind of works, except that sometimes uploading to an Amazon bucket restarts after an error, which can make me throw things at the wall.

..trubble is...

Video files are very big (massive!), compared to Photos and screen shots, and it takes AGES to upload them to You Tube!

I record my Bike rides, but the files take days to upload them with my Broadband service!

I've tried You Tube....but have given up..so far...

I use free "Windows Movie Maker" to edit them!

Paul.... :( ...!

I think I've mentioned before that you can tweak the settings in Movie Maker to make your video file significantly smaller. Use Save Movie rather than Publish Movie and experiment with different bitrates. Sure, you lose some quality when you go overboard, but you might end up with a file 1/10 of the size.

Then upload the finished video via the Youtube site.

In a way , so lucky close to a hub , more stable , now with high speed it will worth measuring some things , some just come in like a rocket, so uploading from here would the be other test.
