Dear old Mother took a tumble in the bathroom ... In the hosp for a day or two . I've never seen bruising like it before , poor old girl , but nothing broken.
Thank God she took up the offer of a St Johns alarm ..... they called me (msg ... i was driving) to say it had been activated (Im 10mins away) by the time i got there , the lady next door (the second one they call) was there , and the ambo guys 5 minutes after that.
15 out of 10 to those Ambo guys ...... they even stayed with her in A&E until they found a bed for the old girl. Great guys , caring .. polite , and very professional.
Sadly , its all very familiar territory for me .... but I'm sure this will work out better than Dad.
Seriously considering moving back , but the logistics would be a nightmare ..... anyway , that's for later.

Worrying news again, Marty.... :( ...!

Poor old Mum!

I worry every time I get in and out of the Bath that I'm going to lose my footing and bang my head on the taps!

If I was unconscious/incapacitated indoors for any reason, I would have decomposed before anyone found me!

(Would I be any use as; Compost?)... ...!

Every movement I make, I have to think twice, is it going to be safe!

Paul.

Old Chap ..... without wanting to sound too crass , you would make perfect compost , but DONT plan on becoming organic too soon.
It is a worry , puts the BMW issue in the shade.

It actually sounds like she has a good support plan in place -- so I can't really see much benefit from you thinking about moving in. At this time, you were driving, and I guess that you would've been driving whether or not you lived with your mum, so hardly much would change.

I've been thinking about this sort of issue -- falls in particular -- a lot lately, as just about everyone I know over 70 has had a fall at some time. My son and I have been talking about me moving in with them -- not because I'm elderly:), more to do with my lack of income at the moment -- but I've really had to think about how my flatmate would cope on her own. She's 70+, and she does find a lot of things difficult after damaging her hand/wrist in a fall, so she relies on me a lot just for simple things like opening jars, and even helping her put her boots on. She has two daughters, but they hardly ever check in on her. I guess they might if she was on her own, but I can't rely on that. (One of her daughters was my first wife, so I know how, um, unreliable she can be....)

These days with personal alarms and cell phones, there are ways to keep safe, but you do need to take some action to make sure that these are effective, and have a plan in place. Paul, this means you too...

Thanks for thoughts gents. Still not home , but should be soon ....they are just managing her pain at the moment.
Lots of support when she gets back to HQ . She is starting to get "ward"fever ..... "the place will need a vac "..... the bins need to put out ..... etc etc .
She still works as a book editor , and copy writer for radio ... so all those concerns are voiced as well

Mumble update :
Shes doing well .... looking good , they are still managing her pain levels . Once the pain is gone or under control she will be moved yet again to another hospital for some rehab work. She said she wont need it ... I said she will <_<
So , all going well she will be home in about 2 weeks , by which time there will be a walk in shower in place (rather than the shower over bath setup) thanks to a good friend .
Its hard to see her like this , and i keep having flash backs too Dad and how it all went downhill so fast .... but as I've said , shes a staunch old bird and can tough this out no problem.
Ive been given orders to go and buy a tablet or something that will allow her to email and facebook .... and "bring me something other than these bloody woman's weekly's to read " and ..... and ... shes fine
But still a worry , but Im sure it will work out.
