I am very surprised that someone had not posted this before.
Squadron Leader Les Munro, born April 5 1919, died August 4 2015

(CNN)The last surviving pilot of the RAF's legendary "Dambusters" bomber squadron has died in his native New Zealand at the age of 96.

"Our New Zealand Bomber Command Association Patron, and well known Dambuster pilot, Les Munro passed away August 4 2015 following a spell in hospital with heart problems. So, so sad. He was a mighty man,"

May he rest in peace

I checked a day back on his passing .. I met him in the mid 90s during RAS meeting , I was to meet him again a few years back , but yeah things happen, last previous time was with Bill Simpson , he narrated the TV series WWII New Zealand in colour , strange I was pushed to the front , behind me in the auditorium were all these WWII Bomber vets , one thing , least they had ones who showed an interest. ...

In thought ..., most all WWII vets have past , I got to meet many in the mid 1990s , be something both yourself and the Lad's should get into , the Royal Aeronautical Society, you get to meet such people , one off the biggest joys they got was ones knowledge , really makes for a great evening.
