True , but i hate seeing history just thrown away .... and there are two sites here in CHC that would break your ( historian) heart ...now we get cryptic , .... because "little Bobby wants a birthday party" or , "the brass band is in town" push the relics outside and take the money.
Disgusting practice.

Its amazing and very typical how closely how the Russian Space Shuttle is in design to the American well used version ... the other thing is there was a Russian Space Shuttle on tour .. one stage it was in Australia on display in the mid/late 1990s or later, be interesting to find out were that one went to.

That already happened with Wigram ... 'Hells' even the name Wigram is sin-ominous with New Zealand Aviation ... rip that apart the way they did ... whats the point at looking at anything else ! ... appears to be the standard attitude and that breeds the contempt ...

I recall hearing that these photos were taken a few years ago and now part of the roof has fallen down on one of the orbiters? Possibly the one that had been into space?

When I look at those photos, it reminds me of the remains of the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant in Russia....>>>

...and my PC Computer game...>>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.T.A.L.K ... _Chernobyl

Both scary places!

I remember the Nuclear fall-out from that Disaster passed over Great Britain at the time.

I've now got three legs, four eyes, and speak fluent Russian.

...probably...

I'm afraid Russia would be the last place on my holiday list.

I watched Henry Cole's Motor-Bike trip in Russia, on the Travel Channel, and it looked a thoroughly depressing, cold, wet, miserable, and abandoned place, with everything falling apart!

(Marty may be able to comment on that!).... ...!

California is much nicer. Warm temperatures, clear blue skies, and some wonderful scenery....

...its just that you/I are likely to get shot in a African-Latino gang war cross-fire!... ...!

Paul.... :D ...!

Interesting post....

I sent it on to my son who works for an oil company who have four drilling rigs there. At the time he was office bound in Almaty and shared it with the hierarchy, many of who are native Khazakstanis..none of them had even heard of it. They in turn sent it off to their mates in high places so it apparently created a bit of an interest storm. From what son tells me about the place it's not surprising, vast spaces, downturns in everything, corruption etc etc. He says the people are sullen and unfriendly and ex-pats are not usually welcome. A bunch of them went out for a meal and a beer to a local outfit and it was suggested to them that it would be wise to finish their meal and leave. Shades of ChCh who have been getting a very bad press lately with violence and crime, lol.

The would not surprise me about places in Kazakhstan and as far as CHCH is concerned , it dose help having the corrections department letting out convicts to tear up a neighbourhood , rehabilitated .. I don't think so that type will never change , worst having a buncha godboys saying "don't you believe in giving them a second chance" .... NO .... you don't go around terrorising people and neighbourhood , seem to be rampant over there .. If you can't go out for a meal and a beer.
