Welcome to the NZFF September 2015 Screenshot Competition.
Sponsored by CaptainSim

Can I ask participants to please take note of rule 3: The images must be jpg so please don’t post png.

This month's rules are as follows (Please read them).
If you have any queries about the rules please PM me for clarification before posting your entry.

1) The screenshot image must consist of a screen captured from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, P3D or X-Plane) and the position of the shot must be from somewhere within the New Zealand territory.

2: Some editing is allowed (if you know how to do it.) Additional images - either screenshots or "real" images can be added - but the main component of the image should always be of a Flight sim screen capture.

3) The images must be jpg and size must be at least 1024 pixels wide and no wider than 1280 pixels -- A good free resizing program can be found at http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDownload.htm
3a)No frames or txt to be left on the image. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

4) Images can be submitted from September 1st until midnight 30th September 2015, with only one entry of a single image per member.
You can change your image anytime up until 1 hour before the closing time.
To change use the edit button at the bottom of your post, just delete the old image and replace it with a new one If you post comments on an entry using the quote or reply button please edit out all images from your reply or quote.

5: Soon after the competition ends, a poll will open for members to decide who has the best image, and then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the prize for the month.

6) This month's theme "A NEW ZEALAND HISTORICAL FLIGHT" (Please state your Aircraft details and over what part of New Zealand the image was taken)

One thing to encourage people with this theme, "A NEW ZEALAND HISTORICAL FLIGHT" is have the screens put into a pinned subject and to have the specific screen have it edited to be added to show the maybe historical information and the background installed , underneath the entry .. this can be done but ADMIN after the competition.

I think we can put the 'Cold War' theme to bed in the pinned department , leave in the screens and have this opened as a freshly pin topic to which can be built on .. with having every ones entry's this month for starters .... now that will be cool , I think the edit would hi-lighted with the specific date and historical when supplied , making it extra important . again admin will have to do there job here ... be a little juggling every request but general edit and adding can be done from my end.

In other words we timeline known historical dates based to Flight Simulation , has to be correct and no what Ifs ... some to be built on ... If it is incorrect I will judge it and confer , I'll be looking forward to this months entries to build on.

In other words .. Build a Flight Simulation New Zealand Historical Base .. if parts need filling with accurate data and photo all the better, I'll be able to check and cross refer the data and the history.

SO THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT MONTH ! .... SERIOUSLY LOOKING TO THE ENTRY'S !

Kicking off with ...

Image

Dave Garwood's incredible freeware Dh89a Rapide - over Lake Manapouri. Repaint by the prolific Jank Kees Blom.

========================================
Queenstown based Southern Scenic Air Services, originally known as Southern Scenic Air Trips, was formed by F.J. (Popeye) Lucas, W. (Bill) Hewett, and Barry Topliss on the 9th of September 1947.

In the early years the air service was operated by Austers and Proctors but from December 1953 Avro Anson XII, ZK-AXY, was introduced to the run. In 1956 the Anson was replaced by De Havilland DH89 Dominies which were much cheaper to run than the Anson.

In May 1965 Southern Scenic Air Services Limited merged with Tourist Air Travel Limited which was subsequently bought by the Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company which became more commonly known as Mount Cook Airlines. The Queenstown flightseeing operation was sold and became known as Milford Sound Flightseeing.

One of 9 Dominies obtained by the RNZAF, (serial NZ530), it was registered ZK - AKT in 1946 and was being flown by NZ Tourist Air Travel on 15 April 1967, when it suffered a twin engine failure and made a forced landing on the Shotover river bed (and sadly written off).

September 12, 2014. The last Air New Zealand 747 makes it's final commercial touchdown in Auckland, after crossing the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco.

I know, this aircraft is called 'Wellington' instead of 'Christchurch' which was the actual last one. But I can't complain because of the beautiful McPhat textures!

PMDG 747 + McPhat textures, everything REX, FTX NZNI

2 January 1938 The first official New Zealand airmail to the United States left Auckland for San Francisco on Pan American Airways’ Samoan Clipper. The Sikorsky S-42B flying boat was piloted by Captain Ed Musick.

Getting into a bad habit of changing my mind, apologies for that - I should just sit on my ideas until the last few days, then choose one!

This is the Millennium Flight - a flight of A-4s took off before dawn on 01 January 2000 and flew east until sunrise (about 0530ish I think it was). I based this shot on an actual photo of the flight. One of the last great flights of NZ's faithful Skyhawks, and a truly historical flight!

In 1903, Richard Pearce started New Zealand's first Aero Club, in his home town of Timaru. For a long time he was the sole member, and the opening party was not well attended...

He was known as 'Mad Dick', as he often threw tantrums whenever he checked the landing fees box, and always found nothing there...

I may replace this once I find something a bit less... made-up.

ZK-HNO doing the first Harbour Pilot transfer by Helicopter at the entrance to wellington Harbour

I recreated this scenario from the memory of an article in a very old NZ Wings magazine about the trialling of this system for the Wellington Harbour Pilots using a Helicopters NZ Bell212 in this livery. I have been unable to establish the dates of this trial but did unearth a great u tube clip of this Helicopters NZ operation dated in the 1990's

A tribute to Leo and Vivian Walsh, Pioneer Aviators. Vivian Walsh was the first New Zealander to obtain an Aviators Certificate.
