P3D addons

Postby Aviator 1 » Wed Sep 02, 2015 5:18 pm

Finally very happy with my Flight Simulator and happy from the change to P3D. I would like to find out two things. Firstly I have purchased aircraft from Carando for P3D. When I install it gives me the option P3D or FSX I select P3D and asks me to locate the folder like fsx I went to sim objects airplanes and installed it into there. Tried many ways but wont work any ideas.

Lastly I am looking at Orbix scenery is it easy to install and is it worth its money ?

If all you are going to use in with P3D ORBX NZ works fine , many freeware photo real glue on to it well but also RealNZ/Godzone .. .. simply the packages for GA are a requirement..... not required but hugely recommended .

I seem to remember that Carenado installers gave the choice of FSX, P3D and P3dv2, so make sure you select the correct version.
Then if the installer doesn't find it automatically, you just need to navigate to the P3D main folder, don't worry about the SimObject folder.

Still does not want to work. It should be under select Vehicle ?

Do you mean that it appears to install ok when you select the P3D2 install folder?
Are you sure you are looking through all the list of vehicles? Carenado does tend to mix and match the way it names aircraft in the list...
Failing that, just search your Prepar3D install for today's date -- just copy/paste this into the search box in Windows Explorer:

datemodified:today

...and it should show any new folders and files.

I tried something different I installed the files to the desktop then tried to arrange the folders to get it to match. It worked of a sort but the cockpit was all see through. Will have another try tomorrow.

I think that happens if you try and run the installer from within the ZIP file -- make sure you extract it first.

Have you had a look around the FTX forum for a solution?

Maybe a bit more info on exactly what point you get the error message. But I think I have seen the odd post about missing terrain.cfg on the FTX forum...

Yes, I think whoever sent you that misunderstood which scenery you were installing.
I'm still not at all clear what your problem is. "It just says..." doesn't really give any clue as to what 'it' is. That's why I asked for more info of exactly what is happening. At what stage do you get this error? What steps had you taken before then?
Bear in mind that NZFF doesn't have anything to do with FTX, which is why I suggested that you ask at the Orbx forum. You will have a lot more luck asking over there, as that is what their forum is there for. We can help if we can, but they should be able to help simply because you paid them money for something which requires support. Take advantage of that.

Many thanks I have tried contacting the flight sim store for support.

Steps After a fresh install of P3D installed to my D drive. I extract the files of either north or south and the screen comes up wishing to install the scenery. I seems to install fine then it takes me to FTX central and a error message comes up, Saying unable to locate file Terrain . CFG. It comes up for both North and south. Failing that I will go to the Orbix forum and see as yes it was not cheap to buy.

Ah, ok, it's FTX Central causing the problem. Coincidentally I browsed the Orbx forum yesterday and the first post I saw was very similar, so maybe this is the answer for you:

Yes finally got it working , I did find one problem is I was running Orbx Free Ai traffic. It was working just fine until I installed the scenery and no longer works.
Tried to reinstall a few times nope now does not want to work. Sorry for all the problems still trying to get my head around it all.

Any help I know its just a small thing but will be nice to have it working for the extra realism its just odd after the scenery :givein:  went in. Its got the pip
