Never really liked all the stuff they added, and the ferry tanks looked awful. My best memory is of a BoB Day at Leuchars, watching (and hearing) two orange circles vanish into the ether. Don't remember any smoke. R-R never disclosed figures, they just said power was 'adequate' and the RAF followed their example by quoting the RoC as "In excess of 50,000 ft/min" ...those beasties could go supersonic in a vertical climb :o
