Those Deep Freeze Hercs must touch down extremely flat, to avoid scraping the skis...any pics of the critical moment?

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Nice set Marty... do like the last "coming and going" !

Special to see the Herk with boots on, it must be quite a focussing experience to ride them out of variable snow drifts.

Two ATRs glued together was the RAAFI one six blades , eight blades .. think of it as a Hawkeye.

Sorry for the digression ... the reference was to the odd U.S LC-130 with the 8 blade props , and the unusual sound it makes.
A sound that a four engined ATR may have , a far cry from the classic C-130 sound.

Even a far cry to the early LCs when running up from the terminal roof as they taxied past , adjusting the pitch on the taxi roll was interesting.
