A work pic

Postby Splitpin » Wed Nov 11, 2015 6:13 pm

Not as exciting as some ... but this is "Jack " or as he is known on paper ..R13S1"
R=Rough terrain , 13 = the deck height in meters at full reach , S= Snorkel (his brand) and 1 being its position in the fleet . (among other 13mtr machines)
Amazing bit of kit , the photo wont give a good impression of the actual size ..... i was thinking of taking him out to the airport on a good norwest day , and snapping from 13 meters up on the approach to 029

I had a few hours to kill in town on Monday, and I was watching a variation on this working away on a building site -- quite fascinating to watch, with it sitting inside the framework of the highrise, so it was all overlapping beams and angles as it went up -- I would've got some pics if I'd had my camera.

Do they have an 'emergency' release button to bring you down quick in the event of an earthquake?

Blimey!.... :o ....!

That looks very unstable, without any hydraulic jacks and out-riggers to anchor and support it when fully extended!

I wouldn't be a very happy bunny up there on a windy day!... ....!

Paul...I quite like terra-firma!.... :wink2: ...!

Fozzer ..... the photo makes it look small , but its a big solid platform. It has 4 rams and a self leveling system , and about a 7ft climb up to the deck.
Operation in wind is limited , but i cant recall the limit at the moment.

I am tempted to post an amazingly witty comment about Poll Herefords, but I shall refrain
MikeW
'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'
