My new Baby!

1998 Honda CMX 250C Rebel.

Picked her up last Sunday (20th December) after a long van trip from Hereford to Manchester, with one of my Sons driving!

The Seller's Photograph...(private sale)....>>>

Image

Image

I have Christened her; "Daisy", and she just needs a good de-grease, wash, and polish now...just like a "new" Girlfriend!.... ...!

After 65 years of Motorbikin', and zillions of different bikes, this is the first time that I have actually ridden/owned a "Cruiser" motorcycle, with its very low seat, high, "ape" handlebars, and forward foot controls!.... :o ....!

But its something different, and loads of fun, and perfect for relaxed touring!

I just need the Summer to arrive now, to really enjoy it!..... :D ...!

Paul..... ....!

More photos, videos, etc, to follow, when I get the chance...(and the bloody rain stops!!).... ....!

Last Saturday.....23rd Jan....it stopped raining for two minutes, so I packed all my overnight gear up (Pyjamas and toothbrush, etc) on my Honda 2-wheeled cruiser, and sped off to Cinderford, in the Royal Forest of Dean (31 miles away) to visit one of my lovely Son ad Daughters-in-Law to do some nice work on my new? Honda CMX 250 C Rebel Bike.

New chain and sprockets, and a valve clearance check, plus a good-old clean all over, and a polish, and a new, proper, MPH speedometer, to replace the daft KMPH speedo originally fitted...(Import model).

My Lad, Ian, is also a Motorcycle Mechanic, as well as his Kitchen and Bathrooms business, so he is well served for doing jobs on my Bike!
..(I used to, many years ago, but I am far too tired nowadays!).... :wink2: ...!

He made all sorts of adjustments to my bike, (Daisy), and she is in tip-top condition now ready for trips all round the World ( England) when it stops bloody raining, and the weather is nice and warm and cosy again (Summer)... :D ...!

I also got a free Sunday Dinner, (and a cuddle with my lovely Daughter-in-Law), the nest day!.... ....!

Rode her back to Hereford, (the Bike), (at the speed of light, yer Honour), on Sunday afternoon!

She goes as sweet as a nut now!

Seriously pleased!

..and a Happy Bunny!

Interesting, Ian!.... ...!

Motorcycle or Scooter?

http://www.aprilia.com/en/en/index.html

He will enjoy it!

Nothing quite like 2-wheels....when its not bloody raining!... ...!

I'm still waiting for the rain to stop, and the Sun to come out, so that I can go for a comfortable ride... ...!

Looking forward to see the Photo's, Ian.
***********************************
I'll tell you what....

..it takes some serious practice, to get used to a; "Cruiser" motorcycle, after 65+ years of daily riding various Brit bikes, and various Jap tourers and sports bikes!

Low seat height, high, wide, ape handlebars, and forward foot controls, take some getting used to...

...and its impossible to look over the top of the car in front!...

...trust me!... ...!

I'm never quite sure where my feet are!

But its loads of fun, and something completely different!.... :D ...!

I just need some nice warm, sunny weather now, to get out and about, and explore and video the countryside with my video camera recorder (SJCAM SJ 4000).

...and a meet-up with fellow Bikers on Sunday ride-outs!

Paul....Cruisin'.... (in the nicest possible way!),...with a big grin!...... ...![/quote]

Just a quick link to Dropbox, for a quick walk-around my new cruiser baby, after abandoning a freezing cold local trip...>>>

Note the obligatory "ding" in the petrol tank created by the Indicators!

My bike is the latest model, with a "ding" in the tank on BOTH sides!.... ...!

My baby Yamaha RX-S 100 appears in the shot, and my Honda CB500RR twin is sheltering indoors!

My 50cc Honda FS1M is being rebuilt!

More Biking Videos being processed on Windows Movie Maker!

The sort of film dreamed up by aficionados of American; "Alien Visitation", Area 51, UFO's, Moon Landings, Space Travel, Mars population*, and lots of Praying....

Paul....mostly sensible.... ... ....!

Hello John!

Good to hear from you!

I expect that you, up there (Liverpool), are having the same freezing cold weather that I am experiencing down here (Hereford)!
Its hovering around freezing every morning, and gains little in temperature during the day.

I am dying to go out for a ride every day, but its far too cold to be comfortable, and if its uncomfortable, the ride is not going to be pleasant.... ...!
...and typical of air-cooled, normally aspirated, carburettor engines, the bike is a bugger to get running smoothly until she is fully warmed up, which takes AGES!

I am not in the least bit religious, as you know, but every day I pray for hot sunshine so that I can go for an exiting tour around the countryside... .....
...but someone is not listening to me!.... :( ....!

Summer cant come soon enough for me!... ...!

Cheers John... ...

Pop in again with some more news!... :wink2: ...!

Paul.... :D ...!

P.S...the funny thing is, my little Yamaha RX-S 100, 98cc, 2-stroke, with its simple piston slide carburettor, has no trouble whatsoever, starting and running, whatever the weather, even if its freezing cold!
The Honda Rebel 250cc twin, with its Kehin, Constant Velocity carburettor with accelerator pump, is a bugger to get running smoothly just off the minimum throttle movement...(must clean out the slow running jet!).

My latest purchase (£20). Paddock Stand to enable me to spin the back wheel to clean it, and adjust, and lubricate the rear chain properly...>>>

Image

I just hope that I can lift the bike off its prop-stand with it, single-handed, without the bike falling over!

All my other bikes all have "centre stands" to enable work on the bike!

Cruisers always look as though they are falling over when they are parked!... ...!

Paul.... ...!

...and not forgetting my snazzy new Tool Roll (with obligatory shiny studs) fitted to the front forks...>>>
