CHC 04 March

One of the lads was in the right place at the right time today ...

A rare visit this ice season by a C-17 , seems the bulk of the work was done by the trucks.

It always amazes me, when I look through the glass, into the cockpit, to see a tiny little creature who is capable of safely and expertly controlling those monster machines!

They are certainly a lot different to my little Cessna 150, which will be dwarfed beside them!

In all my 18+ years of daily Flight Simming, I have yet to try, and enjoy, "flying" one of those giant aluminium; "tubes".... ...!

...and they take too long to clean and polish...and they drink vast amounts of petrol!... ...!

Paul.... :wink2: .... ....!

The C-17 arrived on Monday, at the same this as us, had to get radar vectors to allow it into the sequence, and it passed overhead us on it's decent. It's quite big when it passes overhead you 1000ft above.

Managed to get a pic but it doesn't do it justice, from what we saw in the cockpit.

Hah! - life imitating art, or at least FS :D
In my Classic FS, I once sneaked a Connie into the Heathrow glidepath about 12 miles out, and shortly after I was monstered by a couple of 737s overtaking me :o

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Thanks Ian ... should have a pic of that odd 319 later tonight.
It seems that UK based 757 is doing a world charted tour ... nice of him to drop in.

Thanks for sharing Marty. That C17 shot is a beauty!! God I love the look of those beasties, never seem to see them up north, might have to head south for a spotting weekend some time.
