Maybe its just me.... ....

..but I could never get my head around Photo-real Scenery.

Being one who spends most of his time either on the ground, or touring a couple of hundred feet above it, I have always found Photo Scenery to be mostly devoid of buildings and vegetation, whereas 3D "Autogen" scenery has it all!
Photo scenery, like that found in http://www.blueskyscenery.com/ looks fine from 40,000 feet AGL, but on the ground it is mostly flat, like the scenery in my old "Flight Unlimited II" Sim!

I tried "Photo Scenery" many years ago, gave up, and used the 3D Autogen Scenery ever since!

"Autogen" may not be very realistic at times, but at least its 3D, sticks up into the air!... :D ...!

I would like to see some of this new Photo Scenery with the aircraft on the ground, or just above it!

Paul...exploring the scenery at zero feet AGL level!....(Like the Bishop does with the Actress).... ...!

Biggest thing Paul it was 'Flight Unlimited 1' that got me thinking about photo real, we have tons of fully autogened town and city scenery here in New Zealand it is so good you can use them as road maps .... there is not an area I have not touched myself, this once AGN'ed will beat the worlds best and even the 'BlueskyScenery'

Hello Ian...!

I've got the same 3D "Autogen'd" scenery for my USA scenery, with the benefits of "FTX Global Mesh", and "Ultimate Terrain USA" ground scenery enhancements.
My flights appear the same as the photographs for the areas I fly; highly realistic, especially the road and rail systems and the Pacific coast!
I can fly Route 66 (including the interstate highways) from Chicago to Santa Monica, following the same route below me, using "FS Tramp (FS Navigator)" and "Plan-G" Sat Nav Maps!
Route 1 from Los Angeles to San Francisco is highly realistic!

I could never get that sort of realism from Flight Sim Photographic Scenery... ...!

Since FS '98 I have enjoyed the fruits of Microsoft's "Autogen" Scenery!... ...!

I am eager to see some latest examples of Flight Sim Photo Scenery taken at ground level!

Paul.... :D ...!

You can have "autogen" on top of photoreal, godzone does it, orbx do it. There are packages where the devs are lazy so don't do it (it takes freaking forever to do :) )
