Air NZ 767 to go

It has just been announced that the 767 will be gone by early 2017. I guess the deferred Manila start date setback sealed it's fate for good.
There will only be 3 of them left from late next month anyway. A good old workhorse the 767 and an honest Boeing aircraft.

Sad news . Have ANZ ever thought of getting back into freight ? The old girls would be perfect.

Not 100% sure at this stage. I am still training new guys on to the aircraft but this may come to a halt now. I have been bypassed for the 777. That means someone less senior to me has been given the job but they have to pay me the current 777 pay rate and offer me the position when bypass is deemed to finish. It is the latter part that is somewhat uncertain at this stage as with fleet obsolescence it is somewhat complex.

That's interesting as some ex Eagle guys have just started their ground school this week for the 76.

I wonder if the 78's are coming quicker, or there a buyer out there that wants the 76's?

No word yet on what is happening with those currently training but there have been a few hasty meetings to sort it out. It depends on how many pilots will be released from the 767 and the ability of the other fleets to be able to train them.

The 2 aircraft that have already been sold are FADEC models and in demand. There is very little, if not nil demand for the PMC 767 version.
Maybe the airforce as 757 replacements or off to the scrap yard.

That would be an ideal proposition, larger capacity, longer range, well maintained, you may have to join the Air Force Steve ... but have to start out as a Wing Commander ... later the top job ... you have to start from somewhere

Sorta wishful thinking for, on your part, the hours equal time severed , that did happen on occasions, I doubt if the Gov will even think down that road, strangely I started to look for a CS-767 RNZAF paint ... be damn ironic if there is one done.

ZK-NCL dropped into Christchurch June 26th for a compass swing! Bit strange really, but that's what it was all about. It was originally due to fly Auckland-Dunedin direct to operate the Dunedin-Auckland extra capacity flight but then the compass swing thing came up. Oddly ZK-NCL is the next 767-319 to be retired sometime late July. ZK-NCK is still at Auckland devoid of titles and Koru (mostly) and for a while it was minus its registration but this has reappeared on the rear fuselage. Maybe going to a nearby desert sometime soon for a brief period of storage?

NCL did go to Dunedin after a few orbits in the Oamaru area.
Landed about 1240 and then back to AKL as NZ1244.

Withdrawn Air New Zealand Boeing 767-319ER ZK-NCK positioned Auckland – Alice Springs for storage this morning as NZ6011.

I thought it had been sold?

Both NCK and NCL have been sold. NCK has been "white tailed" and NCK will be removed from service later this month. Apparenty awaiting the buyer to confirm how the sale will take place and method of delivery. Space is now at a premium at AKL so I guess it looks like Alice is where they go until it is finalised.
