AKL [16 AUG 2016]

Postby Zsolt » Mon Aug 15, 2016 2:38 pm

Hey guys!

I'm from Europe, visiting Auckland these days and I've planned a spotting day at AKL for tomorrow, the 16th of August.
Could someone give me some instructions regarding transportation, what is the best way to get to Puhinui Rd location, from AKL centre? I don't have a car, so my only choices are public transport, taxi, or some fellow spotters who drive in the same direction.
What's the best time to catch some "exotic" planes (for us Europeans), like ANZ wide bodies, Hawaiian Airlines, LATAM, Virgin Australia, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Hi ya Zsolt, for a starter , Welcome to New Zealand B-) , I can't help you in the best form of transport or spotting in Auckland, if you were in the South Island, Christchurch I would have been more than happy to connect and show you around tho I don't have a car, I know the public transport system here very well .... I'm sure one off the members here in Auckland will give you a hand (fingers crossed), not much in the way off heavies here in Christchurch till the "Operation Deep Freeze" season starts, then it gets exciting .

Welcome to NZ Zsolt!
Buses go from Downtown area to airport on a regular basis.
I don't think they stop at the NZAA spotting points, unless you talk sweetly to the driver :)
Best bet is to search the MAXX website.

Happy spotting!
OH, and have a look here for good spotting points:

Thanks for your messages guys!
@Ian Warren - thanks for the offer, I hope to be back soon, for a visit on the South Island.
@Charl - I think I'll take the bus to the airport and from there I'll take a taxi or Uber to the Puhinui Rd location. Thanks for the map and the links.
