Problems with NZWN

Postby cooldad » Wed Oct 19, 2016 8:18 pm

Hi Robin,

I have a small problem with the latest hi res Wellington airport and I'm not sure whether I had this originally. I feel I have caused this somehow.

I have Orbx NZNI installed and that looked fine. I've reinstalled Wellington airport and this problem shows up. Does anyone have any ideas?

I've reinstalled Orbx and Rob's scenery all over again but it's still the same.

Should I be worried or does everyone else have this problem?

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul
Is this the Subscription transitional airport? It isn't really recommended for use with Orbx NZ, but it can work ok if you want to use it. However there's only really one way to install it with Orbx. Reinstalling almost never works in this case, unless you completely clear out both Orbx and the Real NZ Wellington, but you can tidy it up.

My installer changes the file extension for the Orbx NZWN files to disable them, so reinstalling will just put them back, probably alongside the renamed files, so my installer can't rename the new files, as there's already files with that name... it's complicated, I know, but easy enough to fix. Just search you sim installation for 'NZWN' and find any Orbx files which have both a .bgl and a .bak or .off extension, and delete the .bgl files. See how you get on, if it doesn't work get back to me and I'll have you take a look at the Real NZ installation.

Problem files could be in the Orbx folder structure, or Scenery\World\Scenery.

Note that when I finish the new Real NZ Wellington, I will look at a way to fix issues like this when you reinstall stuff. In the meantime, it's a pain...

Thanks Rob. I take it then this is unusual and shouldn't look like this.

I have tried deleting Orbx NZWN BGL files already (I think this may have started this witch hunt in the first place). I think I see some building addons which might be bleeding through from Orbx as well.

I'll have another look....

Yeah, sorry, I do recall that there was a bit of a mess on the western tarmac with Orbx, so maybe that's the best it'll be -- hence the recommendation that Orbx users don't install it.

I had forgotten exactly what it looked like, and since then I've been working on the new NZWN which fixes all that, but it'll still be a while until it's released.

I've yet to install into P3D , one of the biggest things I'm finding is Captain Sim aircraft just plop in there without an Issue so with that the 737-200 would be ideal , as for the terrain , Paul I'm still installing so I may give you an answer tomorrow in FSX , I really hate it when things go Lumpy ! <_<

I do think you'll find that the western parking is messed up, I did a lot of work to fix that before putting NZWN aside until Dunedin is finished, so rest assured that it will have a fix one day:)

Just Noticed ORBX again , one thing I found with ORBX the Wellington Scenery seemed to always play ball , I can't install ORBX yet in FSX , specifically I need to complete some AGN projects before I get the conflict of elevations and textures , from memory I wonder if your MESH setting is to high , reduce it back to 19, click on your Wellington Scenery , edit then run ?

Thanks Ian, I will try that when I get home. Hadn't considered that!

I'm still sure some buildings are showing up from Orbx as well. Sounds like a small weekend job to sort out. Don't think it was on my 'to do list' last I looked :D

Tell ya one thing Paul its dose pisss ya off when everything is working like clockwork, everything level , from memory I don't recall having these real problematic issues since ORBX did come on the scene , a few glitch's but nothing as huge or the dramas we all have.
