ORBX FTX AI traffic for P3D

Postby cowpatz » Wed Aug 03, 2016 1:36 pm

Is this working in P3D V3.3 yet?

I installed it but somehow I seem to have managed to ditch all of my AI traffic. No FTX or default showing just a bit of WOAI stuff even at 100% settings.

Yeah I have it installed, I think I moved in from a p3dv2 installation though.

The basics you'll need is
Traffic_FTX Aust-NZ Airlines.bgl
Traff_FTX International Airlines.bgl in:
X:\P3Dv3\Scenery\World\scenery

And a whole lot of FTX AU planes in
X:\P3Dv3\SimObjects\Airplanes

Have you got that?

Edit: oh actually, it might be the older FS9 format WOAI traffic files that are the culprit here, conflicting with the Orbx traffic that's in FSX/P3D format.

In X:\P3Dv3\Scenery\World\scenery rename the WOAI .bgl files to .off and restart the sim to see if the traffic comes back.

Yeah I have all those files there.
I'll move the WOAI stuff and see if that makes a difference.

EDIT. Yeah it was the WOAI files that were the issue. Thanks for that. Can these FS9 files be recomplied with the p3D3.3 SDk BGL compiler? Is it the model or the traffic file that is the conflict?

Some of the WOAI seems to work. Hard to tell how much though.
What specifically is it with WOAI that is killing FTX AI? It even kills the GA traffic yet WOAI is all airliner traffic.

cp - I think you need AIFP http://www.owlsnest.eu/aifp.php
AFAIK, FSX will accept FS9 AI flightplans but only if no FSX flightplans are present. You can have one or t'other, but not both.

Thanks Mike. Now you mention it I can recall the issue of the FS9 and FSX FP's not playing nicely together.

I'm just looking into this now myself, the FTX AI P3DV3 download is 820MB's containing 352 file again Zipped up  and no installer or shelf extraction , I'm guessing these are only texture files, I open one zip and it simple say ZIP , sure is not as user friendly as the earlier FTX AI , can some shed some light here for myself and Steve.

I never had any issue with the FTX AI for FSX so it is quite striking to me this setup for P3D V3 .... one area I was not a Guru at .... I'll go thru the suggestions here , I sorta have the time , but surely must be one here got it sorted .

Ian there's an installer I'm pretty sure - it's the way Graham sets them up.

I used the latest version of FTX Central. It allowed me to download and install FTX AI P3Dv3 without any fuss.
