INTERNATIONAL NIGHTTIME FLIGHTs INTO NZQN

Postby Ian Warren » Tue Nov 15, 2016 9:05 am

I was asked by a neighbour down the back flats ask if anyone knows when they might start international night flights into Queenstown , apparently they only come in from Auckland at the moment , she regularly almost a weekly basis fly's to Australia , part of her job but there is no direct flights from Sydney to Queenstown late night as yet, I believe the couple are going to relocate to area.

Thanks Lucky Lindy, that is a start , early next year is not that far ... surely Sydney would be added to the list shortly, I'll pass this on and look out for updates on this subject.

It is twilight ops at the moment. I would say full night ops will be in for the coming ski season (which is the reason for the push in the first place).

I thought they were running full night from the get go? (At least I thought Airnz was?)

Thanks Lindy, A PM saying - "End of the day" why bring and put all this expensive gear in if they are only going to use it for the Ski season ... maybe its a trials test for a few years ? , one rumour I heard was the pilots did not enjoy the thought of dropping into the mountains , course add the weather to it as well.

Just found out that the International A320's don't have HUDs so can't operate into NZQN at night. Only the domestic ones. New A320s and A321s will be fitted with them.
