Something new every day

Postby Splitpin » Wed Nov 30, 2016 9:35 pm

I may grumble about a lot of things .... but I cant grumble about my job at the moment.
I've been moved away from the farm and doing the machine checks ...I'm now known as the "tumble weed" ...all over the city , from Rolleston to Rangiora .
Doing onsite checks , helping load the big machines onto the transporter trucks (big buggers) , traffic control when loading and unloading , operating machines on sites where they don't have trained people , electrical certs and onsite training (a type rating if you like, for some machines)
I've spent the last week on a site in the inner city , helping to erect a 10 floor , external goods lift.

Have learnt so much about concrete , Dyna bolts , directing cranes ,etc etc ... I even got to do a little bit of welding .... great stuff for an old fart.
All this and , I have a van to zip around in ... never get to drive the Mondeo much these days.
A little flack from family about "you could do better" .... yes I could , but I don't want to ! .. this is me now , outside , talking to people , learning new stuff .... love it.

All in all .... life is good.

Great to hear, Marty...age and low cunning will always triumph over youth and enthusiasm

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'
