Just wanted to say thanks again here for this awesome scenery. The backed up version I had was still with the shimmering and crashing issue, so it's great to see the multi-installer.

I will be very interested to see Che's work , one thing with this region it dose seem to stay clean and green except for the chem plant that was there in New Plymouth, major factory for the infamous "Agent Orange".

I know I'm a bit late to the game, but that's my lot in life!

I've recently discovered the FSX bug which freezes the system every time any approach procedures for NZNP are loaded into the GPS. I've tried several different approaches to fixing this, to no avail. At present, I've simply removed the approaches (so I don't accidentally select them!).

Has anyone discovered a way to fix this issue? Thanks!

Is this with Che's airport installed , dose your PC freeze up with this scenery ? in FSX try switching on the cache and fly from the airport and return , small hops say to Whanganui turn back in the same flight, as silly as it sounds it reads the scenery and will continue to work, if that cause the freeze again we will have to think of something else , all my sim flying I use maps so never en counted this before.

Try putting this BGL file inside the New_Plymouth_Airport_2013 scenery folder.

NZNP approaches

I am not sure how accurate the NP VOR is in the default FSX but I have updated my nav aids data base with the world nav aids and ILS update available......

here.

Just be aware that there are limitations with FSX and P3D on how the line draws appear in the GPS and how the AP actually handles them. Sometimes the line draw is opposite to how the AP will fly it.
I have deleted the obsolete NDB approaches and included the RNAV approaches with the RNAV arrivals included as transitions.

Cheers

One thing I have noticed is that the apron and runway do not receive any shadows whereas the ORBX NZNI rendition does. I'm not sure why but I do prefer Che's version.

The shadow problem I'm aware of, for some reason the FS2002 style ground polygons don't display shadows in P3D. Only on certain "layers" do the display shadows. I had certain instances of the concrete having shadow where the asphalt doesn't for example. This is fixed using P3D native polygons. Alot has changed in NZNP in the 4 years this has been out so I might do an update when I fly home for the summer.

I've never encountered the approach problem. A note on the VOR at NZNP. Not sure if any of you remember but the default NZNP had the VOR on the runway. People thought the VOR had moved. The VOR is in the correct position but the airport was shifted inland in FSX for some reason. Not sure why that is. My NZNP I put the position of the airport in the correct position closer to the sea.

Glad you like my Airport over the ORBX version Steve! :D

Che will your scenery fit in with ORBX NZNI?
If so what is required to make it work?
For the approach coding I used your scenery and disabled the NZNI stuff.

FYI

The New Plymouth District Council approved a $1 million short term loan to the New Plymouth Airport ahead of of a new terminal design being approved in April 2017.

I was lucky enough to get help from Robin to create a multi-installers for my sceneries, which is bloody marvelous since I would have no idea how to develop an installer myself. Thanks mate! :) Anyway I thought I would repackage New Plymouth with the multi-installer to make it easier for others to install. Also another reason is that there were a few bugs which people have found. Some people experienced shimmering textures, which I now have Mip-Mapped and converted to .DDS which should fix this. Also some people found their aircraft would crash when they landed or start at NZNP. I have also fixed this and removed crash boxes from the models.

One thing I haven't done for this particular package is updated the features for P3D. Like the Ground Polygons, etc. The airport works in Steam and P3D so I thought I would leave it.

Instead of updating NZNP for P3D for now I though I would wait. I am thinking of creating a "NZNP Mark II" when the upgrades/renovations on NZNP are complete. They are doing QUITE an upgrade to NZNP; New terminal and expansion, runway extension, new carparking area, bigger apron expansion. Along with a new Jetstar terminal built earlier this year, new buildings, taxiways, refueling, aprons already done.....the list goes on! Every time I fly back into NZNP I'm like: "oh crap, they've added more stuff to the airport which I have to include!!!!"

2 years ago I started doing some Photo Real textures and Autogen for all of Taranaki which I got from LINZ. It was more of an experiment since I have never done any large photo real sceneries before, which I wanted to try out. Plus I wanted to create something nice and detailed for my home region! (It's a pet project haha) :D I might make it a full Taranaki/NZNP package, with the city (which I have a lot of buildings modeled up already) and maybe NZSD and NZHA included too. I'm not sure yet, kind of thinking out loud lol, but something I've always wanted to do for Taranaki :)

Whats does everyone think about that? I don't know when NZNP will be complete in real life so it might be a while. They said 2017 which isn't far away, does anyone here know?

Here is the download link too btw: http://www.riddlezinteractive.com/downl ... ymouth.exe If there is anything wrong with the installer let me know and I'll fix it :)

Thought I would share this with you too, I found an architectural drawing of the new terminal. I think it looks cools! Though you can still see the old terminal in it's architecture. Below are some of the planned options for the new apron, taxiway and runway extensions. Not sure the extent they will go with them, probably the conservative option for now. We'll have to wait and see!
