111 call out

Postby Splitpin » Sun Jan 01, 2017 8:41 pm

Well , what a start to the new year ... missed a call on my phone this evening , when I checked the message it was from StJohns saying my old mum had activated her alarm and that they were attending.

Jump in the car and head around there (only 5 or so minutes) ...sure enough , Ambo parked up the drive ... mum on the lounge floor . Brother arrived about 5 minutes later , and the lady from next door.
Turns out ... the old dear tripped on a mat and just couldn't get up , and reluctantly used her alarm.
No injuries thank God . The Ambo people were great , gave her a good check over and went back to God only knows what they will encounter later tonight....

My brother will stop there (with Ma) for the next couple of nights , and then he and I will have a big talk about where we go from here .

An adrenalin shot I did not need just now .

These old Mums are tough old chooks, but they are bloody stubborn, too. Glad it worked out right. Best wishes to you all.

I know how Mum feels, Marty..... :( ...!

I keep trying to kid myself that I am a Macho Motorcyclist, touring Route 66 on a big Harley Davidson Road Glide cruiser...

Instead...

I am a very thin, 83-Year-old stick, with aching bones and a constant fear of falling down and hurting myself whilst struggling to wheel my little bike bike backwards through the garden gate.... ....!

The stairs to bed are like a Donald Trump Mexican Barrier.

My children keep reminding me that I am getting old!... :o ....!

I seem to be constantly shuffling around...slowly....and hanging on to things!

Buggar!

Paul....got to keep cheerful, tho'..... :wink2: ....!

I hope Mum is OK, Marty!

When you come to think about it....

The Ambulance Service and the Fire Service are the two emergency services that ensure that we are rescued and safe!

Real, dedicated folks!

Where would we be without them?

.....and the "AA" (Automobile Association), which, hopefully, rescues me when my Bike breaks down on the roadside in the middle of nowhere!

I would like to be rescued by Sharon Stone..... ...!

Paul.... B-) ...!

While your on this topic guys bit of a public service message, don't be surprised if you see a big red fire truck turn up before the ambulance gets there. NZFS now has a MOU with St Johns that we turn out to certain types of medical events, this may vary as to what level of training the local brigade has as to what type of medical call they go to.

We have had a few issues of the trucks turning up before the ambo's and getting a bit of grief/dismay because they are expecting a ambo not a fire truck.

Cheers
