Banana tree

Postby Splitpin » Fri Jan 06, 2017 8:22 pm

Way off topic ..... but... I got a Banana tree from a local nursery about a week ago , re potted it into a bigger pot , and my god ... its away.
It should reach about 3-4 mtrs , but if it continues at this rate it will be huge.

One new leaf has grown in 24 hours about 30mm !! Who would think a Banana tree would thrive in CHC ... if this is global warming .. bring it on B-)

Ian, you shouldn't scoff so many - they don't grow on trees, y'know :D

OH BUGGER.. Ya made a right monkey out of me, I was hoping Marty was going to deliver bananas for me all year round ... a tree is a tree, a bush is a bush , they are brown and green , why the hell did did they call em a 'Banana Tree' ... I expected fruit or a nana or two ... that is why I like what I did here , they call it Concrete .. you can jump on it , you can build on it you can put a chair outside and read a book with a cold beer ... its Concrete ... a Banana tree tho ...

Give me a yell when they fruit and I'll be round for a daiquiri.
Apparently they don't take long, compared to my avocado plant -- in 10 -- 15 years I should be able to make my own guacamole...
I did the quiz on the linked Britannica page, (I knew that a banana tree wasn't a tree) but apparently this isn't my area of expertise -- very poor result.
