A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Saitek Gear

Postby Aviator 1 » Fri Feb 10, 2017 6:16 pm

From what I was told Saitek equipment is no longer being so buying new is getting even harder. I believe another company has taken over to make equipment but there is no news for any releases
in the next couple of years. By the way does anyone Know how to activate the flight panel In P3D I have tried the drivers, plugging into different USBs, Manual config just cant get it go. I do know it
works because it worked fine in FSX,

I don't think Saitek is truly gone, I think it was s production change, they have proved to be very popular so I would doubt if they will totally shut things down, may have been a factory change as well.

I was surprised how easy it was to set up the Saitek Yoke Throttle and rudder pedals , much easier than FSX , A 'Flight Panel' is that another piece of hardware you have ?

There is a shop near me that sells all the Saitek gear and when I wanted to order a radio panel that is when he told me about Saitek no more in Flight sim.
I also asked the Down Under pilots Shop in Naiper and got the same answer. Yes the switch panel is another piece I have. Yes your right the Yoke and pedals went in easy

I wonder if these people were miss informed , I heard rumours six months back, more for a factory change, honestly I can't see the logic closing down a very successful business.

Saitek was acquired by Logitech a few months ago.

http://blog.logitech.com/2016/09/15/cre ... es-saitek/

Of course no one knows what the future will hold, however, for the time being Logitech restarted production and redistribution of Saitek Gear, as I read in several places. Even items being completely sold out for half a year seem to reappear now.

Kind regards, Michael

Thanks Michael, that will be it, so the products will still be kept in production, they maybe keep the Siatek name , least surely they must or Longitec would not be so bright.

I would say if they do shut down the Saitek line they will really be shooting themselves in both feet and other parts .. OUCH!

Yes your right there, but still its not looking good they could improve on the quality a bit for the price you pay they still only cheap plastic parts, I would rather pay more to get metal switches ect.
Its a surprise Logitech went in buying flight sim gear. But I guess its like woolworths bought Dick Smith and made it from a Jaycar like store to a Noel Leaming or best buy. Or why Mike Pero
went into commercial flight simulators for a short time. Anyway I look forward to seeing what they will do and if it will be the same or better. I know in the past there supplier for tech support
knew nothing about there product expect selling.

Thanks Glen :) , Current and I must get onto getting that finished is the 'The Battle of Jutland" - when shells are a flying, The HMS New Zealand fired more of its heavy armament, its 12" guns than any other Battleship Battlecruiser on both sides in WWI , 421 shells during the day, the most famous navy action involving two countries entire fleets , Royal Navy and the German Imperial Navy.

Its now around $115 for black and white and $130-50 for colour, to some easy to draw them, it creating a theme rather than ...simply best way of putting it 'an airshow photo' , the good thing is trying to get a historical , go back to WWII and let your imagination go wide.

I should add it depends on the size to the printing cost , the above is for SRA3 slightly large than standard A3 , recently I can work on larger works again it is the printing cost.
