I made the mistake posting in the wrong section so now posting the correct section. This part of the forum like myself is information for starting out in aviation art. OK Ian share your wisdom

Simply get a sketch book , cripes even just a simple piece of paper .. dose not have to be an aircraft , ... perspective is something you learn after time , look at photo of something you really enjoy/like/ even the paddock outside.

I am certainly doing that and I realize it takes years of practice. Its like if you look at the guys who build beautiful radio control flying scale models they did not start over night.
More a less I just find it difficult to get scaling right, also what is a good rubber that does not smudge your work,

I should not say this cos it may put you off, all my drawings and were I started , it was all ball point pen , I'll scan the early works tomorrow and throw them onto this thread , give you something to work on , starting back when before I started high school.

Biggest thing is not to be intimidated , is to look and see how you can do it better ! , one thing with me I was doing this since as long as I can remember .. that mean in the six,seven,eight year old bracket .. the biggest thing is drawing is the easiest and MOST FUN and damn right cheapest to ever do and the imagination ! ... Ooo CRIKEY !

That will be great, and thank you for your advice. I understand its practice and working your way up and looking at what you could do to make it better. I guess no book can help you
its just looking at a image, and taking your time by the way what rubbers do you advice to stop smudges

Glen , it was because I was/am left handed , I stopped using pencil because I was smudging everything into a mess ... today the humble pencil is a little more forgiving .. CHARCOAL .. wait another couple of years .. I'm still not so SHITE HOT using that !

Rule NUMBER 1 .. don't listen to the teacher, including me .. good thing with this hobby is a a pen/pencil and a book/pad .. obviously your like most here and aeroplane mad , your Mustang, this is were you started so start there .

Don't need a complete drawing , simply draw bits and pieces .. even modify it for your own purposes .

This was well before High School , maybe Form 1 or 2 Avonhead School , back then never thought of buying a book without lines, think I was using the excuse that it was for proper learning , again you can see read to many war comic and aircraft details and perspective is ... very comic book style.

So as you can see, everything was ball point pen , I do know this is around 1973/74 but you can see how I am thinking , back then art school for kid had not been invented or least I certainly was not introduced , details are limited, many books perished but give you an idea to start simply drawing doodles .
