Where did they go ??

My brother recently purchased a book on the history of the Hurricane (Hawker)
It covered all the squadrons and countries that used them .... and there, almost at the back page, was a section on New Zealand.

The author stated, that in January 1942 488 Sqn (RNZAF) exchanged their Brewster F2A Buffalo's for Hurricane 2b's .
Following the fall of Singapore, the remaining aircraft were transferred back to New Zealand, some (meaning there were a few) ending their days as airfield decoys.
So .... maybe, somewhere, on some remote rural property in Godzone , there are the remains of a few Hurricanes .

Would be nice to know .

I would they would be long gone by now, there airfields would have been the North Island if any place, sound like a very interesting book, I have the Hurricane workshop manual, that go's thru the list of the current and existing airframes but nothing outside that.

More than likely it would have been the Buffalo's , I do recall something along those lines from memory.

No , not the buffs .... I have some research done by a guy called Graham Clayton .

"Don't think anyone wanted the Buffalo's after 1941" true .... but reading these guys research, (Clayton) it seems those Hurricanes did come back here .... talk about it when we catch up.
