First flight on the nice (Still New) 787 yesterday, just some phoneshots.
Great looking office.
Big Windows, nice and clear for photography (the older planes look at best as if someone ran a Brillo pad over 'em don't they?)
Photochromic dimming a gimmick, but works well enough.
Slightly higher internal pressure meant the cruise from Sydney at FL41 didn't feel any different from FL33, say.
Didn't notice too much difference in the air humidity, my nose runs in any aircraft
My phone app says at cruise it's as noisy as a "busy street". I hadn't thought of using it on an A380 but would be interesting to see the numbers.
ANZ service as ever friendly and relaxed. Seating is a little tighter than the 777 which is still my pick trans-Tasman.



We tracked in over the city - home sweet Auckland.
The ride is very good, perhaps one is persuaded by all that wing flex?

Nice looking plane. I guess it's a good thing, but I used to love hearing the older engines ramp up on takeoff...now they sound like a flymo.

Seats getting smaller? bugger, can I return my 6'7" frame as it's getting inconvenient. Going to have to get rich now to fly business. Or at least lucky enough to get the exit row

I was lucky enough to spend a day (around 8 hours) crawling around most of the aircraft taking training photos. It sure is a beautiful and impressive machine, but after walking back and forth from one end to the other, and back again, all day it starts to add up to one tired scaber entity by the end of it all.

I greatly appreciated the opportunity but, sadly, I'm not allowed to share any of the photos I took outside Air NZ.

Be good to hear your take, Marty.
I was so influenced by the "Plastic, Electric" mantra that I probably didn't give the aircraft its due.
(Still prefer the 777, I suspect)
