Agtruck in Prepar3d v4

Postby toprob » Tue Jun 27, 2017 2:23 pm

I don't think that anyone can fail to be inspired by Adam's Fletcher shots, to try and get the best out or their simulator visuals. I have been tweaking PTA, based on his settings, but today I went all-out for a more contrasty look...
This is the Alabeo AgTruck, which is now v4-compatible, so this was my first payware update for v4. So I have two non-default aircraft, this and the Fletcher... if anyone wants any topdressing done, I'm your man!
I've also got the AS16 beta, so things are coming together nicely. I particularly like the way v4 lights the trees, particularly powerful in Adam's Orbx-based shots, but it also makes my own custom bush look a lot better:) Although my non-bush trees are FTX HD.

Since this was my first flight, I missed my camera addon, and couldn't see the mixture control behind the hopper lever, so nearly plummeted out of the sky early on, but got that figured now. EZCA is sorely missed at the moment.

I'd recommend anyone with doubts about Prepar3d v4 to talk to Adam, he's the expert on getting the most our of your view. But of course PTA is a very necessary starting point, and you need to fight through to purchase it...

Nice shots Rob. The lighting seems a big improvement in P3DV4.

Wow - stunning pics, Rob!!! If I hadn't have got the Fletcher working in P3Dv4, then that AgTruck would have been on my list. Some stunning pics to show it off there - and I agree about P3Dv4 lighting - slightly better all round, compared to P3Dv3, though it's hard to spot exactly how.

I got a bit frustrated with my OPUS Live Camera not quite working the way I wanted in P3Dv4, so plumped for "ChasePlane", after watching Froogle's video. It's *fantastic*: one of the best-designed FS utilities I've ever used.

Adam would you recommend Chaseplane over EZDOK?

That's a good question -- I use EZDOK in v3, and I like it, but there are little foibles, and if there's a better solution, I'd like to get it for v4.

I haven't used EZDOK for a while (I used it before OPUS) ... so I can't vouch for any *current* version of EZDOK but, honestly, ChasePlane is 10x better than *anything* I've ever used. It's slick: has a very intuitive GUI which makes it great to use - paticularly its ability to easily switch between camera modes (swivel, track, fixed to aircraft or terrain). It even allows you to pick any parking spot from any nearby airfield as a static camera.

Camera movement speed and "easing in/out" is all very configurable, so video producers will love it. It also has a full range of head movements, G-effects, vibrations etc. that I remember EZDOK modelling, but I think its effects come from real forces acting on the aircraft, rather than "random" effects (which was the way EZDOK *used* to work).

To top it all, the developer(s) are friendly and responsive, and features are constantly being tweaked or added.

It's not often that I feel I can so heartily recommend a product - but for screenshot junkies like myself it's an absolute treat!

Well that has sold it for me. I have been using EZDOK but as you say it has some issues. Odd things happen from time to time with no apparent reason. One example being on the Carenado Aerocommander I have set up a couple of wing views with dynamic movement. Oddly the RH view has movement but the LH view doesn't even though the settings are exactly the same. The centre mouse wheel also gives issues from time to time. It is still a great product and one which was much needed at the time it is just a shame that the developer seemed to give up on refining it. ChasePlane seems to be the next step.
So now I need to buy P3V4, FSUIPC5 and a handful of ad on upgrades. Actually the money is not so much the issue, it's having to download all this on a rural 3G broadband and that sucks big time.
10 GB should take about 14 hours :( Good news is we may get fibre by 2025.
