Another hard landing.

Postby Splitpin » Mon Jul 03, 2017 7:13 pm

Got the call from St Johns this morning that my mum had activated her alarm ..... did a mach run to her place, thankfully only 10 minutes away (did it in 5)
And there she was, on the floor ...two ambo people at her side. That sight will always break my heart.

Drama and emotion aside, it appears she may have had a small heart attack, passed out and fell ... scans show some minor damage to her ticker and major internal and external bruising ... along with shock.

Meantime the boss is txting me "where are you ?.... we needed you here 30 minutes ago" ... I replied with the details ... and got "well sort it and get here , Im snowed under" .... I kid you not.
Didnt txt back ... I called ... and I let rip ... Im not sure if i still have a job, and to be honest I dont care.
Family before bloody money anytime

Will keep you posted.

I'd like to think that your boss reacted before he thought it through, people do that. On the other hand, some bosses expect you to forego your humanity during working hours. He obviously forgot who he was dealing with!
Hope your mum's on the mend quickly. Seems like that alarm is worth its weight in gold.

Can fully appreciate that Marty. My partners parents are taking it in turns to use the ambulance/hospital service. Normally it is the day before we are going a way somewhere :(
Still they are in their 90's and it is to be expected.
I hope your Mum gets well soon.

Just heard from my daughter that Nana (hubby's grandma) passed away peacefully, in hospital, after a slight fall at home. She was in hospital because of the alarm system. Worth their weight in gold, they are.
Best wishes for a good outcome.

Thanks deeknow ..... did the shift change with my brother tonight.
Ma is doing well , she slept well last night ... just a bit wobbly on her feet first thing out of bed.

Will change the guard again on sunday.
Bit of a worry , but what else can we do.

Marty have you had her fully assessed for home help? There is lots available including cleaning, assistance showering etc and even cooking and laundry.
There is a big push by Government to keep aging people in their homes rather than have them in rest homes. Not from the goodness of their hearts just that it is cheaper.

Yes i have CP .
Went through the DHB and took everything they had to offer.
A lady will be coming over on Monday morning to see what else they can do .

The old girl has finally admitted that there a lot of things she just cant do anymore , which makes it a bit easier for me.
Thanks for the thoughts.

They {DHB} also gave mum a mobility card to use in the car if i take her out , and another one that gives her 50% off taxi trips.
I have in the past tended to knock the public system a bit .... but this time they have been pure gold .
