What do people think of the below pc for running fsx at nearly max? I would also add a ssd drive to the system

Anything with a fast Intel i7 processor is good to go!... ....!

...a nice Graphics Card also helps...

My desktop Gaming Computer* below, runs my FSX flat-out, with all the sliders maxed!

Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Looks good to me!

Paul.... :D ... B-)

* Attacking the Aliens in the Constellation of Orion!... :@ ...!

...and occasionally mowing my grass... :wink2: ...!

If you upped it to a 1070 or better yet a 1080, you could run a decent 64 bit sim on it.
Dropping money on hardware for FSX will not fix the problems intrinsic to the software.

FSX is a 32bit program and 32bit programs will not use any more than 4GB of memory.

The ones you are looking at should run FSX and FSX Stream with all sliders maxed.
There are sims coming out now that are based on 64bit P3D v4 and Flight Sim World are both based on 64bit so both can use more than 4gb memory.

You might like to check out the Performance web-page for the USA based Jetline Systems website.

They specialize in building Flight Simulation PC's for FSX and Prepar3D

http://jetlinesystems.com/performance

This should give you an idea of the required PC hardware component item spec's. In terms of what you should be looking for when considering a Good PC to run the Flight Simulator Programs such as FSX Steam Edition or Prepar3D etc on.

Why not go for the academic version of P3DV4 instead of FSX?

While I can understand wanting to keep a perfectly good FSX installation, I'd be a bit wary of spending money on a system just for FSX -- remember that what you have now is probably the best it's ever going to get, there will be less and less addons, as developers adapt to 64 bit sims. Plus, although Prepar3d might not appeal to you at the moment, maybe by 4.3 it will! Personally I find Prepar3d v4 the biggest step forward so far, even v3 is looking tired to me.

Sure i understand that but getting prepar 3d means ill have to re-purchase all my addons again + I cant get it to wirk with my logitech g940 flight system

And after watching reviews on fsx se it seems to me most of the isses have most if not all have been fixed and if dovetail games has taken it over why would there not be support?

Plus there is the horrendous price of p3d that puts me off..

FSX and all its descendants carry the baggage of the poor original code.
Buying a computer *just* good enough for FSX won't improve your simming experience much.
And will lock you out of the true 64 bit sims now appearing on the horizon.
Hold your nose and jump for a nice i7 and 1080 graphics card.
Then pick up a copy of Aerofly FS2, where they are making you a nice Q400

Then put the heat on Robin by buying in to his kickstarter fund

and getting wonderful NZ scenery like you've never experienced!

Look i understand what your saying and i know what your saying but fs2?? They have like 10 aircraft available atm and yes the q400 is nice but we dont have that in nz and fsx has the q300 coming soon with majestic software and razbam is soon doing the atr

I dont really have any interest in ga flying, shorhaul is the way for me and fsx just has the most aircraft available for me, all i want is a sim to operate aircraft smoothly whether it be Sydney or timaru!

And i think fsx se will do that for me?

Any other ideas?

If your mind is set on what you want then don't bother us by asking for advice you know you will not be using. :arrr:
