AANS2 Arrival Chart For NZNS?

Postby Aharon » Fri Aug 18, 2017 11:28 am

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Where can I find AANS2 arrival chart for NZNS Nelson airport please? I cannot find it on Vatsim New Zealand website. Want to fly from NZAA to NZNS using this route CLARK1P LIMES AANS2 .

Thanks,

Aharon

Aharon, the AANS2 is a standard route clearance that is done in NZ to simplify routing and radio communications.

All the charts in use in NZ are on www.aip.net.nz and it's free to use. Find the airport you want and have a nose around.

This is the list from AKL http://aip.net.nz/pdf/NZAA_61.1.pdf and the AANS2 routing is, H384 NP H252 which gives you a nav log of this https://skyvector.com/api/navlog?92690

The Clark1P is the departure from 23L and again is found in the same area. http://aip.net.nz/pdf/NZAA_62.13_62.14.pdf

For arriving into NSN there are a number of different options, for the company that I fly for we have been given information on the expected arrivals that the tower there will give to us if an approach is needed. If runway 02 is in use we will be given the Nelson 2 arrival and then the RNAV 02 approach, for runway 20 a descent tracking to the point ELMAX thence the RNAV B approach.

Thanks to Dbcunnz and Lindstrim for kind answers.

Thanks to Lindstrim for awesome links to NZ sites that I have not noticed before.

That is MAIN REASON why I joined NZFF forums because I knew I would get from NZFF forums very valuable education on commercial New Zealand aviation!!

I got a blank form with blank fields from this link??

Yea dunno why that is but this is the waypoints from that log as it works on my computer.

NZAA
AA
LIMES
KARRL
NP
TELIM
MENOV
KUNVO
NS
NZNS

When your flying the SID it depends on what GPS/FMS system your using but the first 2 waypoints don't really matter as the SID will take precedent over these. I don't have a picture of what it would look like on our FMS but it should go something like this

NZAA23L
500A
CLARK
LIMES
KARRL etc etc

Arrival ours looks like this for the Nelson 2
KUNVO
NS
MIBEV
IF02
ISLOP
NS401

But again that's what we see on our system.

Linstrim,

Thanks for cool specific waypoint list!! Your waypoint list confirmed that I was doing correct way to feed waypoints into my GPS except I did not know what AANS2 arrival was. And you gave me waypoint info for AANS2 arrival.

Thanks,

Just to reiterate there is no AANS2 arrival. This is the routing between AA (AKL/NZAA) and NS (NSN/NZNS).

This is where it's confusing sometimes when looking at these routes on flightaware etc. as in some airports in NZ it's a procedural control system rather than a radar based one. This is why I think the information on the arrival used doesn't appear in flightaware. eg this one from Christchurch to Napier BIDEV3Q ODOWD CHNR6 similar thing as there's no arrival given until you change to Napier tower. For a comparison a WLG to CHC flight looks like this PEGSA3 SABDA WNCH3 MESIX MESIX6B which gives the Mesix 6B arrival for 20 in CHC.

Lindstrim,

Ahhh thanks for clarification. No wonder I was totally baffled after spending so much time searching through vast world of internet for AANS2 chart not realizing that AANS2 is NOT an arrival chart!!!

LOL

Just make sure when you fly the CLARKE departure that you make the left turn at the MANDATORY 500ft and not the "roughly 500 to 900ft somewhere" that some seem to be in the habit of, otherwise you might get an A320 up the APU! The subsequent departure and next arrival separation may be depending on you getting out of the way. remember- you're not alone up there. B-)
