Screenshots

Postby Barrington » Wed Aug 23, 2017 11:12 pm

I have just viewed some screenshots that were outstanding, but once again there is no means of knowing how they came about!!!!
What platform they were flown in -FSX, Xplane, Preper 3d (version)?
what 3rd party add-ons (if any) were used to create such great results?
what aircraft (default or 3rd party were flown) ???
any other information that could be shared by others?
Please don't take this as a major grizzle to the forum as I both enjoy and have received some great assistance for a number of years.
However, I use the fourm every night and sit in awe at some of the results that are posted in the screenshots, but I am non the wiser
as to how I may achieve the same (or close to) results!
I am sure I speak for many who feel the same as I do and dearly wish they could get even close to what is often posted by gung ho simmers.
I am sure my rasiing this would be a great help to many others who support the forum, and would surely be seen as another attribute to being a member.
Regardless of the outcome, I am still an avid forum supporter.........

Good point Barrington , and as a screenoholic Im guilty of sometimes presenting something with minimum background information.
I do normally mention the sim I've screened ...IL2 , DCS, or one of the others ( I use 5 or 6 )

Regarding technique , I've thought for a long time that we could have another thread for sharing this information. Maybe Adam could look at that.
I've seen screens over the last few days here , and thought "how did he do that"
Of course some people may not want to disclose their secrets , and thats fine , but I , and Im sure a few others would be willing to share the love.
Cheers.

Hi Splitpin,
I'm glad that pou agree with me and hopefully we could have some policy that the information nsupports the pics.
I believe that the benefits to other simmers like me would far outweigh any secrative views on withholding the info.
Could even boost some 3rd party sales and everyone benefits. I hope Adam sees these posts and considers it.
Cheers

Are we talking about the screencomps or screenshots in general?

I don't think it's unwillingness to divulge "trade secrets" - most of us are only too willing to help out. I think it's maybe more to do with it being quite laborious if, say, you're posting up 4 different pics in one post - each with a different aircraft, different locations or sim settings.

That said - I'm often asking posters things like "whose B737 is that?" or "where on earth is that?". I seem to remember in the past, we used to ask people (in the screencomps at least) to state the sim, aircraft and location - but few people could be bothered.

If anyone wants to know how a specific shot was arrived at, all they need to do is ask. I know I'd be happy to illuminate/elaborate (!).

Don't ask Splitpin, because he just doesn't know how he produces such stunning shots all the time  :D B-) ... he's just naturally brilliant (bastard!!! :ph43r: )!

Adam.

Har, har har, Marty! I can remember at least three of yours  ... you need to up your dose of fish-oil!

Anyway ... back to the original query (!) ... I'm wondering whether it's worth putting up a "How does he do it?" thread - with maybe a series of tutorial postings from anyone willing to volunteer their dark secrets.

I'd be happy to post my "method" - but it won't be short (!). If there's a resounding silence, I won't bother! ^_^ :P
