Very first Godzone object in Aerofly FS2...

Postby toprob » Sun Oct 01, 2017 4:08 pm

Ok, I was flat-out all last month, so didn't get around to trying a conversion till now -- it's annoying when to relax on the weekend I play with scenery design...
Not much to see here, but it does show that the process works:) I still need to look at reflective textures, so it is a bit 'flat'.

Well, there's a long way to go at the moment. They've released a photoscenery tool, similar to MS resample.exe, and there's an model export plugin for 3DS Max and AC3D. I use AC3D to convert my GMAX models for Aerofly and X-plane, but there are limitations which are annoying me at the moment --the X-plane exporter always gives me the error 'X-plane can only use a single texture...', and Aerofly requires square textures, whereas a lot of mine are 1x2... so some pre-planning is required.

IPACS have said that they can build a mesh for New Zealand, as there's no third party tool to do this at the moment. So this is very early days.

But let us looking forward. Aerofly has his limitations and is in my eyes a bit away from to be a complete Sim, but it has potential especialy for Flying VFR under realistic conditions and not "Garmin-VFR."
