Stress plus

Postby Splitpin » Sun Nov 18, 2018 7:30 pm

No need to reply ...I just need to vent.
Some may know that the house I've been renting for the past ...I think its 14 or 15 years is on the market and will sell to a non-investor (yes ..I know life moves on) There are plenty of places out there for rent, but times have changed since I last did this.
I got into this place for about $700 ..... now I'm looking at about $ 3000, plus truck hire, power reconnect, internet, ....jeezz.
I'm trying to find something that will suit the nephews, with regard to their work ...buses etc.... a real balancing act.
All this combined with looking (still) for a job is just a bit much.
I do have some part-time work (bless them) doing some garden and property maintenance for my partner's employers.

Oh ... I don't know ...as I said, not looking for a reply ... and, when I see it in print ...maybe, it's not an issue after all.

Did I mention, the Mondeo overheated today  Not sure what the problem is yet ...will get it into Ma's garage on Monday and check it out ...it may have blown a hose ...pray, it's not the radiator ....see, crap just keeps piling up.

There ...Im vented ....cheers

Early Sunday morning.
You just can't beat a comfy vent in the smallest room, between getting out of bed and going downstairs.
Time to start a new day!... :D ...!

Paul.... :wink2: ...!

Unsettling news, Marty!... :( ...!

Vent like a volcano mate !!! :-)

Jeeze that's quite the hike on the rent front huh. Does it get much cheaper as you get out of town? e.g. into the countryside maybe w a little more commuting?

Better get those nephews selling their photos to help pay the bills ;-)

deeknow, those arent rent prices .... they are what it costs to get into a place these days.
Looked at about four in the last 3 days and my head is spinning .... but, for about 30 0r 40 bucks more a week we can get something much better.
The sale of this place has fallen through, one of the many inspections has found some , as before unknown, earthquake damage which has to be fixed.
So we may have some breathing space ....but we will be moving.

Yeah, not knowing what/when is stressful, maybe just forget the likelihood of having to find another place for the moment....
I hate it when things start to compound, I prefer my problems one at a time!

" I prefer my problems one at a time!" ...... me too Rob.
Still, haven't got the Mondi into the hanger for a check, it will be this weekend. Got an eyeball on the leak today, it's a hose .... but almost half the front end will have to be removed to get to it (slight exaggeration) ....but, it's just a hose :) and I can do it. Blessed :)
Re the house ...another blessing :) seems that it will be coming off the market due to the repairs that need to be done.
The landlord called me tonight asking if I was prepared to sign a new lease ( no rent increase) for another 6 months and see where that takes us. What works for him works for me at the moment...I just want peace and security.(always hard when your renting ... but) .
So, overall life ain't too bad after all ....what a difference a day or two makes.

That's good news on both fronts. :)
As for modern cars, it's an hour's work just to uncover the engine, and when you get there.... :o Great neighbour Tony-next-door and meself were completely stumped when we could not find the coil on his BA Falcon ute. Thanks to Mr Google, we eventually found that there were six of them, one tiny one on each spark plug. Of course pennies have gone now, too, so how the hell are you supposed to tune a carby? Mebbe time to set up the Old Fart Tuning Company, but some musical folk might get the wrong idea

 Re the Falcon coil Mike .... or almost. For the brief time that owned that bloody BMW 525 ....I never found the spark plugs, the leads just seemed to disappear into space.

Now you know why I get cold and wet on my trusty Motorcycles!
I finally gave up on motorcars, and their expense, some 28 years ago!

How about a nice Scooter, to go shopping, etc, Marty?

...(with a vee-twin motor?)....

Hey Paul - remember the old Panther big singles, ideal for hauling sidecars? At 30mph, if they fired at every lamp-post, the timing was spot-on...

Hello Mike!
I nearly got one of those (650cc) to pull my 4-seater Busmar Sidecar with all the family.
I bought a 1948 HRD Rapide 998cc vee-twin instead!
... I should have stuck with the Panther...much more reliable!

Enjoy the sound!...>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkm7SEfIVmM

Nothing quite like the feeling, sounds, and smell of a motorbike.

This is turning into a good thread ....just a shame it started off with my depressing stuff. Maybe I can edit those bits out and change the title.

Nah, leave it - I think it's the second one I've hijacked today :P
The DVD was good, but they can't provide the smell of Castrol R at the racetrack. Unforgettable.

Old Flathead (Side Valve), vee-twins, used for flat track racing, board racing, and Wall of Death!

Similar to the 1915< Harley-Davidson J and JD Flatheads.

Hand gearchange and foot clutches!

Wonderful old machines. Brings a tickle to the throat!

Watch "TROG" (The Race of Old Gentlemen), and "Motorcycle Cannonball" on Youtube, for some excellent examples on the lovely old machines!
