Parcel Air repaint

Postby Splitpin » Sat May 25, 2019 10:28 pm

I found a nice repaint today on flightsim.com for ZK-PAT, buts its for the PMDG 800/900 model...with the 700 upgrade whatever.

I went on their site, but there's no way I'm paying 50 something USD for the base model , and then another 25 or so for the upgrade  who do they think they are!
So, my question is this : Is there a good 737 model flying about, that is realistically priced, if not free ...with a Parcel Air paint.

I know PAT isn't a 700, but its the only paint I could find.

LLOLL LOL LOL

Since the new banner of Parcel 734 and its pilot appears on NZFF forums, I always want to have that repaint so that I can recreate forum member SA227's real world routes!!!

The best hope to get Parcel Air repaint is to place repaint request on "repaint request" subforum of HJG forums for freeware Vistaliners 737-400 series.

If you want, I can put repaint request there for you or do you prefer to do by yourself?

Splitpin,

HJG had finished painting Parcel Air on Vistaliners 737-400 cargo model base but it is with registration number ZK-PAQ and without red squares on cockpit windows meaning it is not ZK-PAT as shown in NZFF banner last month.

However, I have on your behalf put in the HJG forums another request for ZK-PAT with red squares on cockpit windows in hope HJG would agree to do this too.

Meanwhile the registration number ZK-PAQ without red squares on cockpit windows will be available for download whenever HJG decides to upload that livery. They usually announce new downloads every quarter of the year and sometimes offers surprise new downloads between 4 quarters of the year.

Hope that is ok with you.

The red around the cockpit window is on the starboard side only on each aircraft

Thanks Dbcunnz

Good to know. However, HJG's new Parcel Air repaint with registration number ZK-PAQ does not show on HJG preview screenshot the red square on cockpit window or on as you called starboard side. Thanks for correct my technical aviation term. Did not realize it has to be called starboard side window.

By the way, what is the purpose of red square, please?

Just to confirm, the starboard side means the right side. So in this case, the co-pilot’s cockpit window

Boeing call it the left / right number 2 window. The reason for it being red is that the right hand one can be opened from the outside, which has 2 benefits:

1) if the captain has left his keys at home we can still get in :D
2) in the event of an accident the F/O can be rescued first. Which is only fair as he/she could possibly still have a career after the subsequent court of enquiry :P

Smiling

Let's hope HJG would honor my request for Splitpin! If HJG does not honor my request, I am afraid one of you NZFF forum members who have painting talents would have to modify the repaint by adding red square and changing registration number on the repaint.

Sorry for dragging up an old post :P but as have been having a simming renaissance figured this was relevant. Found this thread via a Google search funnily enough and wondered if the HJG model/textures would work in P3Dv3. Turns out why yes they do, no issues at all. Paired it with the FeelThere V2 737-400 sim file and panel, and the TSS CFM-56 sound-set I have, and all working tickety-boo (apart from a minor issue w the exterior view not showing the cockpit windows transparent)

Here's a wee circuit around NZAA after taxiing out from the cargo ramp.

HJG can offer the following correct UI B737 3D model and livery for "PARCELAIR" .... B737-476 SF ZK-PAQ .... painted with precision by my HJG management partner Peter LIDDELL ....

Image

Image

It also offers the following "TOLL" texture for the same model/base pack too .... B737-484 SF ZK-TLL .... painted by Peter as well ....

Image

Image

If these simulations work with P3D "V3" (they won't using V4 though) then that comes as "a surprise" to me because such was never intended, but, I'd really need to see/closely examine evidence supporting this for myself before I promoted such early P3D portability :)

For what it's worth anyway ....

Go to HJG "DOWNLOADS"

https://simviation.com/hjg/

Select the "B737-400 SF" section.

The above illustrated "PARCELAIR" and "TOLL" textures, and their supporting aircraft base pack, are each located there .... confirmed to be FS2004 native and also perfectly FSX portable too.

The FD windows are transparent, but HJG's preference is for a more realistic shadowed/darker rather than crystal clear/transparent FD window effect .... as discussed within the following extract of one of our own forum presentations .....

This's what you (everyone) should be seeing in regard to FD windshield texturing .... they should all appear slightly opaque, but, not black or grey, and certainly not totally transparent either ....

This transparency may may be positively, or negatively, impacted by FS version effects. All of the B737 models offered by HJG are based on the VISTALINERS originals .... but .... ours being "2015 edits are "different" compilations of these". Old FFX, SGA, and VISTALINERS released B737 textures will work (some won't though) on these newer models, but, won't display the same "sheen" (shiny surface effects) when used on the HJG edited models. All of the HJG offered textures are produced specifically for these "newer" models.

The HJG offered B737-300/400/500 panel is FS2004 only compatible though .... but FSX alternatives are available from both FS.COM and AVSIM.COM ....

Image

Separate FS2004 and FSX specific versions of the customized HJG B737-400 CFM-56 turbofan sound pack by HJG audio colleague Benoit PLAMONDON are also available from the "BOEING SOUNDS" section of HJG "DOWNLOADS" ....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zpw1m8m2YKY

For reasons of FDE compatibility/customizing HJG offer "separate" B737-300, B737-400, and B737-500 sound packs. These sound packs will only work as intended though using the HJG FDE (both CFG and AIR data) .
