I just want to fly

Postby Aviator 1 » Wed Jun 19, 2019 6:29 pm

I enjoy Flight Sim and find its a good training aid for full size aviation. But for some reason I am just getting loads of trouble with mine and all I want to do is fly and I am the stages I will be going back to keyboard and Joystick.

I am currently running FSX steam I was told it runs smoother than the regular fsx. I have not changed to Logitech but currently using the Cessna pro flight yoke and Saitek X52 throttle quadrant. In game controller everything works just find like it should and everything lights up, I go into FSX then to settings for some reason it will on register either the X52 and pedals or the Yoke and Pedals. If I disconnect one or the other they all work fine in the sim like they should but I cant get them to read together. I tried to update the firmware from Logitech but shows a message saying plug in the usb plug, everything is plugged into USB 3 ports in the computer no hubs. I thought I would take a break then and look at installing my Orbix north and South Island. I bought the P3D FSX version which seems to not register with the sim and the installer for it keeps crashing using the orbix installer. I just want to fly !

While what you have *should* work, I nonetheless suggest a move to P3D. There has been zero development on FSX code and third-party developers are beginning to abandon it. P3D is, in my opinion anyway, a better overall experience. There are some FSX diehards that might argue otherwise, but I don't recall reading of too many (if any) people that tried P3D and went back to FSX out of preference. Perhaps there were some, but P3D I believe now holds the majority share (I have no numbers to back that up, but I *think* ORBX made that statement based on their sales once before ... I could be talking crap though!)
Or you could wait until (who knows when in) 2020 when the new MS sim comes out ... but no-one has any clue what that will be like yet.

With your issue, perhaps try removing from Device Manager *all* your controllers, then plug them in and get them working one at a time in Windows. Once one is working, get it setup in FSX (you may need to delete the config file first to 'start fresh' ... I'm afraid I cannot remember where it is or what it is called, but Google should help there). Do each controller one at a time and maybe, just maybe, the FSX Gods will take pity on you! :)

Either way, hope you get this sorted because control issues are the worst annoyance in flight sim...

Yes I agree but allot of the add-ons I was using including some of the PMDG aircraft and flight one only work with FSX which is a pity. I tried what you said with no luck sadly so back to using a joystick. I have sent you a private message if your free to talk I am trying a installer but have a couple of questions.
